Stonewall Uprising 9 p.m., Channel 2
On June 28, 1969, police conducted a routine raid of the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. But this time around, protests erupted, and the modern gay civil rights movement took off. This episode of “American Experience’’ revisits that historical moment. The documentary portrays the deeply negative cultural attitudes toward gays and lesbians before Stonewall, and it includes interviews with people who were involved in the riots, including a police officer.
Seized and Sold: The Madoff Auction 10 p.m., National Geographic
This sounds Ponzi-riffic, and a little schadenfreudean, too. While Bernie (pictured) is serving time, the US Marshals Service auctions off some stuff from his homes. Among the items on the block: a diamond ring, rare Persian rugs, and a 1917 Steinway piano. The auction money goes into a program set up to help victims of white collar crime.
