Stonewall Uprising 9 p.m., Channel 2

But this time around, protests erupted, and the modern gay civil rights movement took off. This episode of “American Experience’’ revisits that historical moment. The documentary portrays the deeply negative cultural attitudes toward gays and lesbians before Stonewall, and it includes interviews with people who were involved in the riots, including a police officer.
