The green rush is on. This episode of the PBS documentary series, called “The Pot Republic,’’ looks at the marijuana business in California, where medicinal weed is legal. The investigation will focus on the massive black market supposedly thriving beneath the “medicinal’’ label. No! That simply cannot be true.

History Detectives 8 p.m., Channel 2

These days, TV is all about the history behind an object, and its financial value. Shows from “Pawn Stars’’ to “Antiques Roadshow’’ turn the art of appraisal into something informative and at times suspenseful. Tonight on “History Detectives,’’ the show’s experts look at a cane with Japanese characters carved into it, and they determine what it reveals about a family’s past in a WWII relocation camp.
