JANE EYRE (Comcast Movies: All Movies) Cary Joji Fukunaga’s quietly confident film dramatizes Charlotte Brontë’s classic Gothic romance from the inside out. Emotions repressed and set free drive the narrative; and what the movie loses in epic resonance, it gains in inner strength. Mia Wasikowska makes an appealingly flinty Jane, and Michael Fassbender a rough-hewn Rochester. (PG-13; runs through Jan. 27) TY BURR

YANKS (Encore on Comcast) John Schlesinger’s surprisingly cold treatment of what should have been a warm subject the “invasion’’ of Britain during World War II by millions of American troops. Richard Gere and Vanessa Redgrave star in a film that drips with prestige and nobility and yet never rises above soap opera. (R; runs through Jan. 19)

THE MECHANIC (Comcast Movies: All Movies) Jason Statham, Ben Foster, and director Simon West (“Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’’) remake Charles Bronson’s grubby 1972 urban thriller about a meticulous hit man teaching his craft to a new apprentice. An intermittently arresting, mostly standard action entry that deals death noisily more than cleverly - a lot like the original. (R; runs through Oct. 31)
