FAST FOOD NATION (Max on Comcast) In dramatizing Eric Schlosser’s muckraking bestseller, Richard Linklater made a big, angry movie that leaves audiences spent. On the surface it’s about the horrors and hypocrisy that goes into making our hamburgers, but at heart it’s a piercing look at the absence of options in a capitalist system. The large cast includes Catalina Sandino Moreno, Wilmer Valderrama, and Greg Kinnear as a corporate executive for a fictional chain called SEVO. (R; runs through Sept. 1) WESLEY MORRIS

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (Max on Comcast) John Travolta, then just a refugee from television’s “Kotter,’’ became a star by playing a smoldering youngblood of working-class origins who tries to glamorize his life by discoing his nights away. And no wonder: When Travolta’s on screen, especially when he’s dancing to the period soundtrack, you can’t take your eyes off him. (PG; runs through Aug. 31)

WALL STREET (Max on Comcast) “Platoon’’ in civvies, with young stockbroker Charlie Sheen teetering between good and evil. Will fast-lane takeover heavy Michael Douglas claim his soul? Or will his honest, working-class dad, Martin Sheen? A good bad movie, executed on the level of a big, bold, biff-bam-pow comic strip taking place in a Wall Street boiler room where phones and computer terminals are the shovels.
