DOWN WITH LOVE (Max on Comcast) Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor in a fond but rather wobbly parody of old Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedies. Director Peyton Reed dresses the film in the swanky colors of the lounge era, and the script is clever when it’s not being naughty. David Hyde Pierce steals the film in what used to be the old Tony Randall role. (PG-13; runs through Sept. 15) TY BURR

SCHOOL TIES (Showtime on Comcast) This film travels first class to its story of anti-Semitism boiling away beneath the blazers and wood paneling at a luxuriantly austere boarding school in suburban Boston in 1955. Its screenful of arresting performances - led by Brendan Fraser as a Jewish football star - suggest a cross between “Dead Poets Society’’ and “Europa, Europa.’’ (PG-13; runs through Sept.13)

APOLLO 13 (Comcast Movies: Free Movies) Ron Howard’s compelling docudrama about what happened when a 1970 moon shot went wrong, endangering Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton. Mission Control, headed by Ed Harris back in Houston, provides dramatic counterpoint. Not as complex as it might have been - but the period reconstructions are terrific, and the warmth and decency are real. (PG; runs through Oct. 20)
