Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again 9 p.m., HBO

HBO is promoting this hourlong conversation as the meeting of “two comedy greats.’’ I like Dick Cavett a lot, but I tend to think of him as more of a talk-show great. Go watch some of his classic interviews of 1960s and ’70s icons as proof. Whatever. Onstage in front of a live audience in LA, the two guys, who appeared together on Cavett’s show in the ’70s, swap anecdotes about their years in show business. Look for a Carl Reiner cameo. Pictured: Brooks (left) and Cavett.

True Blood Sunday at 9 p.m., HBO

I’ve complained a bit about this season of “True Blood.’’ The story lines and characters seem to be showing their limitations after four years. But, as the Sunday’s season finale approaches, I’ll focus on the positive. Fiona Shaw has been camp fun as Marie/Antonia, Pam’s rotting face was very enjoyable, and the pace and editing of the show remains dazzling. I love the way an episode will end just as a dramatic moment begins, and then the next episode will begin with the very next moment. When the show does that in a season finale, it’s mega-micro-plotus-interruptus.

A feng-shui tank. This is the dawning of the age of aquarium.
