Some guy who works for the Globe is obsessed with the Kinks, so he decides to go on a mission to get the band back together. Along the way, he enlists Sting, Zooey Deschanel, Clive Davis, Paul Weller, and a few other famous people. He makes a movie, with director Robert Patton-Spruill, about his quest, it plays in movie theaters all over the place, and tonight it airs on PBS. He’s crazy. He’s talented. He’s Geoff Edgers (pictured with Sting), and he’s ours.
The Secret Circle 9 p.m., Channel 56
The CW hopes to do it again, with this perfect companion series for “The Vampire Diaries.’’ “The Secret Circle,’’ from “Vampire Diaries’’ executive producer Kevin Williamson, is another supernatural-power-as-teen-metaphor product, with Britt Robertson (“Life Unexpected’’) as an orphan who comes from a long line of witches. She must connect her powers to those of five classmates, so they can protect themselves from destruction. It’s predictable “Twilight’’-y stuff, with Thomas Dekker as the forbidden love.
