THIRST
(Showtime on Comcast ) Park Chan-wook, the bad-boy director of subversive Korean action films like “Oldboy’’ and “Lady Vengeance,’’ returned with this entertainingly deranged tale of vampirism, Catholic priests, infectious disease, and plain old murderous adultery. Not for the faint of heart. In Korean, with subtitles. (R; runs through Oct. 25) TY BURR
THE DARK CRYSTAL
(Showtime on Comcast) Puppets of various shapes and sizes make up the cast of this entertaining, imaginative, and resolutely uncute children’s fantasy film directed by Jim Henson of The Muppets and Frank Oz. (PG; runs through Oct. 25)
MEN IN BLACK
(Max on Comcast) Funny, deadpan spoof in which Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith don Blues Brothers garb and keep the world safe from aliens who obviously landed long ago. Director Barry Sonnenfeld gave it enough wit and self-confidence to make sophisticated mass entertainment with some moments of real pop-culture brilliance. (PG-13; runs through Oct. 31)![]()
