Every TV show has to have a blog...
...and sometimes, they backfire. Apparently, NBC has cut its main links to "Defaker," a fake blog about "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," made to look like the L.A. gossip blog "Defamer." (You can still link to it here, at least for now.) The trouble, it turns out, was that the masses hooked onto the "Comments" function and started spewing out unprintable things about the show and NBC. Oops. The people have spoken.
You can't really blame NBC for trying; some shows do well by their online counterparts. ABC's internally-produced "Lost" blogs and podcasts have launched a universe of deep thoughts and tribute sites, and the writers' blog for "Grey's Anatomy" draws thousands of loving comments, even though Shonda Rhimes' "I'm your best girlfriend" routine has gotten a little over-the-top. The trouble, it seems, is if you try too hard, or execute too poorly, or maybe if you wind up creating a blog for a show people love to hate.
