More "Mad Men"

Very few people are riding the "Mad Men" train, which is too bad. It's such a strong series, and different from almost every other drama out there. How I wish it were on HBO or FX, so that it might have drawn a bigger audience and become the sensation it deserves to be. "Mad Men" could have been a hit among those who once embraced HBO's famous madE men....

But I come in peace, today, to note that despite its small viewership, "Mad Men" has been renewed for a second season. AMC, I kneel at your shrine.

  1. I love this show. I've only watched it on demand because it's the only way to see it in HD. Beautifully photographed. I assume its run is over for this season.

  1. Matthew--

I'm on the Mad Men train with you. I found the first couple of episodes to be a little obtuse, but once I got used to the tone and rhythm of the show, it really opened up for me. It's very inrtiguing stuff, and the fact that it's also very stylishly executed doesn't hurt. I'm doing my best to get others watching.

  1. I'm happy to see this renewed, though I must admit that this show is far from appointment television for me. I really do like it, but it's kind of a ponderous show to get into. The episode from two weeks ago - which I understand was very good - is still sitting on my DVR, waiting to be watched.

  1. Yippee!

I know 2 of the 10 people that religiously watch this show so I gave it a try (using the 3 episode minimum rule) and do not regret it at all. Dark and edgy and wonderful sets and costumes.

On Comcast its on-demand in HD!

  1. I was hooked pretty much from episode 1. This is a wonderful show: adult, smart, beautifully produced/shot, funny and thought provoking. It's so interesting to see again the reality of women's lives in the early 60s. I'm old enough to remember it, and I only wish more young girls could see this show and understand what the feminist movement was all about and how it benefited them. I digress: truthfully, the men in this show lead pretty constrained lives too, in a way and the whole thing just works--it's great TV. I'm thrilled it's been renewed.

  1. I love this show and talk it up every chance I get. It'll catch on. Brothers & Sisters didn't start too well either and now look at it.

  1. agree that the show grows on you, but why did it go away after episode 13? Is it coming back? It simply disappeared from 0n-demand one day from Bright House? I hope it continues.
