Tuesday TV roundup: Icon edition

1) Drumroll...drumroll...."Idol" starts tonight. Granted, it's the evil, cruel, make-fun-of-the-mentally ill portion of "Idol," otherwise known as the audition rounds. But that won't stop me from liveblogging (lightly). Check it out, and comment along.

2) So much for Discovery Health. The cable channel obsessed with birth and babies will be turned over to Oprah Winfrey, who continues her attempted takeover of media and the world. In 2009, the channel, which appears in 70 million homes, will become OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. The content, according to the press release, will be inspirational.

3) The Smurfs are turning 50. Wow. When I was a kid, I used to really dig the Smurfs.
