'Idol' Choose me, choose me
Ah, a mini-tutorial in the perils and pitfalls of song choice. On one hand, tonight's "American Idol," in which the judges and producers had a hand in the choosing, gave us a couple of satisfying "how will he pull it off" moments. On the other hand, it gave us David Archuleta singing the world's treacliest Dan Fogelberg song. I've been thinking for weeks that producers should have a bigger say in song choice and arrangement, to prevent the contestants from doing the same increasingly-dull thing each week. But then they give us a chamber-music arrangement of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"? Yeesh. Never mind.
Highlights and lowlights of tonight's final three:
David Archuleta. Guilty admission: I have a soft spot for Billy Joel. I can't help it. I'm a child of the East Coast suburbs. And that could be why Young David's version of "And So It Goes" was perhaps my favorite performance of his so far. It's not just the Joelishness I loved, though; this song was a little simpler, a little more mournful, a lot less let's-hold-hands-and-save-the-world than his usual fare. He sang it beautifully. And that, for Young David, was the highlight of the night. I give him credit for attempting Chris Brown's "With You," given how un-hip-hoppish he is. I give him credit for smiling gamely when Randy told him, in so many words, that he's too Wonder Bread to pull it off. But I second Simon's gag reflex at the mere prospect of "Longer." (Cowell pronounced it "gooey;" I wrote "ICK" on a piece of paper.) Couldn't the producers have asked him to sing the Jonas Brothers?
Syesha. Oh, come now, Randy. Here's a girl whose main problem is that she likes to imitate Whitney and Tina Turner, and you give her license to imitate Alicia Keys? Ah, well. She sounded nice. And she did a reasonable job on the overdone "Fever," though I think she kind of underused the chair. (Am I the only person who expected her to do that trick where you stand on the seat and then step on the back and push the chair to the ground? Please tell me you know what I'm talking about.) As for her rendition of "Hit Me Up" from "Happy Feet," I think I liked it more than the judges did. I prefer her uptempo, vaguely-sultry stuff to her over-serious ballads. Alas, I think Simon disagrees.
David Cook. Simon, at least, understands the concept of risk and reward, and Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" certainly put David Cook on the hot seat. I respect the way he did it, fairly straight but with a decent spot of grit in his voice, and once again, with those final high notes, he proved he could really sing. (Oh, and that was his mom in the audience, right? Because if it wasn't his mom, that would have been very, very weird.) I was far less moved by that Switchfoot song, which was a little too garden-variety alt-rock. And with all due respect to Aerosmith (and to Diane Warren, grudgingly), I dispute Simon's claim that "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is "one of the great songs of all time." And while I doubt the strings onstage were Cook's idea, I wish he hadn't acquiesced. At the very least, couldn't he have hunted online for a crazy rock arrangement?
All things considered, I'm guessing the Davids are safe as expected this week. And thus, I have one wish for David Cook next week: Please find a way to totally rock out the ridiculous final ballad. You've sang some songs straight. We know you can do it. Now, we need you to turn the treacle on its head.

Thank God someone agrees with me that David Cook's talent shines through. David A is BORIING - the ballad card has been played toooooooo many times. Yes, he's cute and adorable, but let's remember that this is a TALENT contest.
Ms. Weiss...you don't get it or maybe I don't..."Couldn't he have tried some Jonas Brothers?" He didn't choose "Longer"...Maybe that's why I'm the first to comment!
Sorry...
You're an early commenter because it's late, Brett! I tweaked the wording a bit to make it clear that, yes, I know that Young David didn't choose "Longer." I was hoping the judges would chose something more age-appropriate, or at least less calibrated to his sappy-ballad tastes.
Fmw:
looks like you wrote your response before they sang. ARCHIE never chose the two ballads--- Paula and the producers did, David chose Chris Brown's upbeat "with you" and nailed it. And yet another three grunge efforts from Cook. I guess that sound hasn't hit the east coast yet. Grunge singers are a dime a dozen out here in the west, and the best of them left too early. At least Syesha tries different types of songs. She actually is the most original of them all, but her voice is the least memorable. Archie vs Cookie, just like we knew it would be
I also thought the emotional woman shown during David's rendition of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was his mother. Ryan later identified her as a production manager for the show.
Hey Archiefan,
The Mickey Mouse club hasn't hit the west coast yet so little David (I can't open my eyes or wipe the silly little grin off my face A.)still sounds good to you.
I've liked David Cook since "Hello" but I have feeling given the Idol demographic and the early booting of Michael James and Carly that David Cook is going home tonight and next week's final won't exactly be a must see event. I appreciate Archuleta's voice but a Syesha/David A showdown does not excite me.
I'm sad that one of my favorite shows is turning into a joke. I get through the boring winter/spring months by watching something that gives me a little insight as to what maybe a little different out there. Same old same old.....
I wish they would go back to the theme nights, forget the instruments and focus on some one unique...not another Daughtry or Kelly Clarkson alike. These people in the past were different and now it seems like the show is just repeating itself...another beautiful black woman that can sing....another rocker dude, another nerd,...at least Jason was different, as well as Ramiel, Michael Johns and Brooke, no one in the industry is exact to them in this era...
Get better idol or you won't make it to the next round...
David Cook should consider still loving you by the scorpions for the final song
It was really funny to hear the judges railing on each other's and the producers' song choices. Next year they should discuss the song choices together and come to a consensus so that we can focus on the talent and not the bad song choice. I'm so sick of hearing about song choice. Why in the world does Simon think I Don't Want to Miss a Thing is a great song? I'm embarrassed for Aerosmith everytime I hear it on the radio. My guilty admission is that I like the Dan Fogelberg song but why would they give it to Little David after all the criticism of how he only sings ballads? I was truly hoping for them to mix it up last night and show us something different and all we got, with a few exceptions, was more of the same. The best performance was David Cook's first song.
So much intense attention paid to what amounts to just another game show.
More people vote for AI than vote in presidential elections.
No wonder we're on a downhill slide.
My beef this week is really with the AI judges and producers. It seems that the entire year we've been hearing about song choice being key and so many of the idols doing a poor job of picking- so this week someone else gets to pick two of their three songs and they are basically the same old awful choices. Seriously, heads should roll for having Archie sing Longer. It is exactly what he's been subjecting us to all year- making him get out of his comfort zone. Same goes for serving up Alicia Keys to Syesha- no more Diva songs! Simon's choice for Cook was much more interesting but then the producers go to Don't Want to Miss a Thing (except this song perhaps).
At this point all three are fine singers. David A has a pure voice but he's a little too bland. Syesha is pure broadway, and I don't mean that as an insult, she's got a great voice, she's beautiful and she needs someone else to tell her how a song should be performed. She's an actress first. David C. without questions brings the most creativity to the table and he's got a nice voice for a rocker. Let's face it, he's already the winner- this years Daughtery.
Whatever happens from here out will be fine- but last night's song choices by judges and producers may have been the real indicator that the show has lost its fastball.
Good morning Joanna. I do know what you mean about the chair however Syesha is no Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly!
I agree with you on Randy choosing Alicia Keys but think Syesha did a very good job with it. Her choice of Fever was odd and might cost her but in truth, what is her chance given the popularity of David A and David C?
My question of the evening is why all 3 judges beat up on each contestant's final song. Did they all forget the producers made the third song choices and not the contestants?
David A's attempt at Chris Brown was surprising but he approaches all his songs the same way. He doesn't have enough the confidence to break out of his comfort zone and it didn't work.
David Cook deserves to be the winner even though at this stage of the game, he chose a more obscure song and one that did nothing to showcase his voice.
Simon's choice was a surprise but do think it helped David towards taking the competition. And as far as Don't Want To Miss A Thing; perhaps Simon said what he did because the songwriter was in the audience. I was hoping someone would suggest he sing a David Bowie song such as Changes. Think David Cook would do a great job with that song.
To sum up last night; no thrills, no show stopper, rather bland.
"Archie" nailed "With You" . . . ? I don't think so. I have to agree with Randy on this one. Hearing David A sing the words "My Boo" was as painful as watching him bounce/dance or whatever he was trying to do. The Dan Fogelberg thing was just a weird choice by the producers, and "And So it Goes" was a bit of a softball/gift from Paula, although I have to admit, even though I'm not a huge David A fan, I think he did a nice job with it.
I was wondering if Syesia chose "Fever" because it was something that she already knew really well from performing it somewhere else? With three songs to learn in a week, I can see picking something that you don't need to worry about. I laughed at the Alicia Keys choice, too. The spend so much time telling her not to try to be one of the divas and then give her a song like that?
The only real challenge of the night was for David Cook with Simon's choice of "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, " and I think he did a great job with it. (And yes, that was his Mom.) The Switchfoot didn't do much for me. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. I thought that the arrangement on "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was a bit over-orchestrated, but I like what he did with it. Joanna, I'm with you on disagreeing with Simon on the "great songs of all time" though. Was he trying to kiss up to Diane Warren or something?
I see a David vs. David final coming, but who knows? Stranger things have happened on Idol. I'll have to DVR it tonight, though. I can't take all of the other results night stuff. Last week's group number just made me giggle it was so bad, and I made my husband change the channel.
I expect that it will be a battle of the Davids next week, but give kudo's to Syesha for being the last girl standing. And she looked ... GOOD!
Interesting to me that the judges did the best job of picking a song for their contestant and that the idol hopefuls themselves did the worst. They obviously need good handlers to help them selct the right material. How was the pairing of judge/contestant made?
The wife still loves David A while I go with David C. And, Syesha has the chops and looks to have a big career but needs producers that will keep her from imitating the supposed divas.
Another boring, too long results show (actually I'll just be cutting in and out from the SOX and other programming) and we'll know the finalists.
Cook needs to do one song, just ONE song, without the building-to-a-crescendo schtik. He's still clearly the best, though. "First Time..." actually gave me goose-bumps, and I don't goose-bump easily, sister.
I've been defending Archuleta quite a bit, but he's really starting to get on my nerves.
Syesha would have been great in a production number on one of those old variety shows. She'll have a place in show biz, but she'll be packing her bags tonight.
David A gets way too much of a pass from the judges. Every week he does essentially the exact same song over and over and over and ... and they just roll with it. Other people are encouraged to try stuff and sometimes get slammed for their efforts. Not him. One note, David A.
Plus while he may sing well technically, he is BORING as all get out and sings as if he's from another era altogether. I would go into a zombie like trance if i had to listen to David A for an hour.
So, while he deserves tremendous respect and admiration for all he's achieved by age 17 (or whatever), he doesn't deserve to win. David C. deserves that.
Wow! Every single thing you said in your article, I said to my sister while watching the show. I did enjoy the Switchfoot song, but maybe just because Iike the song--not because David performed it amazingly. Still, I agree with you 99%!
I want David Cook to belt out Motley Crue's Home Sweet Home next week...I see the lighters now....
That was not David C's Mom on stage. It was the stage manager. And it was weird! Syesha, while good, is not great and she is done. David A. has proven he is versatile and I predict he will ultimately win.
David A boring
Syesha has a great voice but for Jazz type music and Broadway
David C. The best by far. He has been my favorite since his audition the only reason I don't want to see him win AI is because they will make him record and sing whatever it is they write for him for what the next year or two. He has way to much talent to not be able to express himself.
So I say give it to David A all the tweens and young ladies will be very happy and AI can mold him how ever they want.
David Cook - grunge? Uh, no, not really.
I wonder why Diane Warren was there. Is it just because they played one of the most well known songs that she wrote, or is it because she's a fan? If she's a fan why can't they get her to write the finalists' song? Every year it's a crappy song.
Okay, there is no way Syesha is the most original...all she is known for is trying to be a carbon copy of Whitney Houston...and she barely takes any of the songs she sings and makes them her own. David Cook will win this with his eyes closed because of his originality and amazing voice. David Archuletta is great but i mean he is just a baby...even if he doesn't win he's still gonna make an album. I think he needs to maybe grow up a little and hit puberty...
What I want to know is why the judges give David A. a pass when he flubs the lyrics, which he does a LOT. He messed up "With You" and nobody said a word about it.
I am so tired of Little David. Somebody give him a cookie and read him a bedtime story so he'll go to bed and be off my television.
I think the judges should be banned from commenting on the type of song when it is mandated for the singer by someone else. Simon's rediculous trashing of Longer was unfair. Not only is it a great song, but David A. did not choose it so to offer criticism on the song while critiquing him is plain absurd. Simon may have meant his jibes for the Producers who chose it but never the less it was a downer for David as people who would soon vote, listened. Simon is definitely not as smart as he thinks he is, though he is the best critic of the bunch, usually. It was obvious that Simon was rooting for David C. while Randy was rooting for David A. Paula gave her best coments of the season last night. Better than Simon and Randy combined. That's news!!!
Paula was really close in chooing that Billy Joel song for Archie. But the one she really should have chosen to demonstrate to America the type of artist he would be if he ever won this thing was "Lullabye (Goodnight my Angel) off River of Dreams. Because as sweet as his voice is, that's about what he's qualified to sing. Lullabyes....
He couldn't hit that last note that David Cook hit on "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" if his dad took him in the garage for a month and worked on just that one note...
That said, I'd be upset if I was cheering for either of the other contestants. The songs the producers picked for them? Longer and a song from Happy Feet. They talk about song selection and then they stick them with those? Clearly we see who they want to win (which should be a direct indictment on Archie's dad because they can't stand the thought of having to deal with him while they try to make an album)
Great night of music! Went to my kid's Chorus and Band Concert. Missed Idol completely...or did I? Love to see round of contestants singing duets with Stars. How was DC's hair last night? Archie's Aw-shucksity? Syesha's Divishness?
"David A. has proven to be versatile"?!
Is that sarcasm?
You people need to understand the show. David A. didn't pick his songs so get off his back. Do you even watch the show and understand what is going on? David did great considering all of the rumors that were going on this week. David to win the whole thing. Go David A.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss Chekezie!
Did anyone notice the slip by Randy in saying that "Your number 3!" to Syesha? Is it fixed that she's going home tonight? Also they didn't show her in her home town but in the limo only? Strange....At this point it doesn't matter what the judges say, The tweens love David A. and the rest, which is beyond me, love David C. He's creepy and just your run of the mill cover band singer.
I find something very strange about Syesha. No personality, perhaps? I've never been wow-ed by anything she has ever sung thus far.
did anyone notice the poster that said 'Cougars Love Cook'? Love that he makes older woman swoon. Pretty amusing.
Last night was more fun than I thought it was going to be, I was ready for a real yawn but was pleasantly surprised. My two cents and a theory on Syesha.
Paula: As one poster said, Paula must have been on her meds, because she was the most coherant she has been all season. Although, I did LOL when she kind of mumbled - I think to Syesha - that it would not be enough for her to get to the final two.
Archie: I also am a Billy Joel fan and thought Archie did a really good job on the song. Unlike many of the posters, I actually think that Archie has a good little stage presence - he has a bit of rhythm, smiles and we know the clarity of his voice is great. It is when he gets off the stage that he is so awkward.
David C.: Thought his Roberta Flack was awesome - really nice job. Though, I do agree with one poster that says he does the same schtick each week. Still, I would like him to win and I think he has toned down the ego/confidence a bit, which is nice to see. While not the greatest song in the world, I love Aerosmith and "DWTMAT" and so thought he did a nice job with that too.
Syesha: I feel that she got dealt a bad hand from Randy and the producers on song choice. She did a good job but with the AK song, she is naturally compared and with the Rhianna song - it is just fluff and the background singers did most of the work. You could even see Syesha continually look up at them. Okay, so my theory: The judges criticized Syesha for her choice of Fever (great song, I know what you are talking about with the chair) but I think that she chose that song because she wants to get that call for the Broadway audition today. The contestants knew all three songs beforehand to practice and when she learned that she was going to have to do that fluff at the end, she probably said to herself, "I am getting booted tomorrow" and so I will show the Broadway producers that this is my niche. Just a thought but seems like she is shooting straight for her goal.
Joanna: Love your posts - always make me crack up. Idol chat this week?
Joanna...have a little respect for the dead (Fogelberg)...and besides, I'll take a sappy, but sweet and melodic, song like "Longer" any day over some of the tuneless, robotic sounding r & b/hip-hop crap that passes for current pop radio fare these days.
Otherwise, I agree with you almost completely.
"treacle" -- I learned a new word today!
She has become the stage manager but is also David Cooks mother...hence the fact that he said "Happy belated Mother's Day" and the cameras went right back on her...and why else would Ryan point her out??...and why would she be crying if she was only the stage manager...? Der
Get back, jojo!
Such a finicky group. "Don't let it bring you down...It's only castles burning...Just find someone who's turning...And you will come around". It could be worse...You could be a sportswriter for the Herald. In each scenario, where do you see the loser's votes going in the finals?
AI is getting so boring. I would hardly qualify this group as the best ever, but didn't they say that last year and the year before ...
I agree with the Syesha/broadway comment. She knows the gig is up and she was auditioning; can't blame her.
David A: I think he is starting to make my ears bleed. If I had to listen to a cd, I would gouge out my eyes before long from sheer boredom.
Cook: Still the winner in my book, but he hasnt wowed me lately.
Wouldn't it be nice to see Syesha make it to broadway? There have been other Idol alums who have performed in musicals (Clay Aiken, Fantasia, Frenchie). I hope she took a good look at the other two contestants and knew that this was her chance to use her acting skills; not to win Idol, but to break into musical theater. Her Fever perfomance was very theatrical and as her bubbly personality comes through in the short interviews I hope there are broadway producers out there taking notice. she's great, but I don't think she's the next American Idol.
As for the Davids...Cook is my favorite, but you have to remember who is voting: My guess is that lots of votes come from young tweens and teens who are David A's age, hopefully he will have a career in Disney-like productions. He would've been great in the High School Musical movies. Still, Cook is the most versatile and the best musician of the three, i hope he wins and goes far.
QnMama,
That's what I told my wife last night. The best place to finish is third. First and second are bound by contract to sing radio pop garbage. Third place can do whatever they like
This is how it is going to be:
David C is going home tonight, Syesha will be next week, and David A as out next American Idol. The only reason I say this is because American doesn't know how to appreciate a good voice when they here one.
Did someone say Switchfoot's Dare You To Move was obscure? Seriously? Unfortunately DC's singing of it showed his vocals are not that strong and this may hurt him once out in the real music industry. Like Simon said, that song doesn't have melody and only succeeds because of the lead singer's somewhat bombastic voice. And I'm surprised that people are still talking of DA as the eventual winner, if you look at DialIdol, DC is leading by a large margin. I guess the predictions about all those other voters (from Michael Johns, Jason, Carly etc) have chosen Cook over Archuleta which makes sense because most of those contestant bases were not tweens. Maybe Jason to an extent but even he got the quirky crowd who don't quite work with Archuleta's style.
I would like to see the finalists both performing the same songs next week. It would be an interesting comparison to see what they'd come up with for arrangements.
David A's got the best pure voice, but I'd much rather just listen to him than to watch him. He can't really move or 'perform'. I'd be very happy listening to a single or a few singles of his, but not a whole album. And I'd never want to a whole concert's-worth of his performances.
Syesha and David C would be the most fun to watch in concert, and I could see being entertained by both of them for an extended period. Syesha has more variety with her dance-ability and acting ability. David C is a great performer because of his intensity and talent.
I really didn't get the Billy Joel thing - I never even heard of the song. David A. looks foolish because he sings OLD songs and he is just to Mickey Mousish for that! He should be singing a Sesame Street or Barney medley...
Syesha did a good job and I think she tried to be sexy last night as a last resort. I kept thinking of Madonna when she sang "Fever" and unfortunately Syesha did not come close. The chair was stupid and al l of her moving around was distracting.
I wonder why David C. had all those violins on stage - he should have been using his guitar for the Aerosmith song. He should ALWAYS have his guitar because he is a rocker. I hope the rocker wins because I think his voice is great, he is believable and for the most part has been original although hasn't come up with some spiced up versions of songs in a few weeks. If he wants to win he better pull off another "Hello"...
Anyway, I am tired of the judges and think that next season they need to add a guest judge like they have done in the past. Give each judge a week or two off and have some decent fill-ins. One season they had LL Cool J which I thought was nice and some others to mix it up a little...
Well, I think Syesha's going home tonight and Randy wanted to make sure that would happen but I am not totally sure why. He gushes whenever David A. sings which is totally, in my opinion, BIZARRE! It is so weird to hear Randy calling David A. "HOT"! Yuck - it kinda makes me squirm.
I think Syesha was right in her song choice. She showed that she can sing more than one type of music. She is versatile and has stage presence. She doesn't just stand there and sing. David A has no stage presence. He stands there and looks afraid. It's almost like, if he doesn't do a good job, someone is coming out to hit him with a big stick..... maybe daddy?? David C shows confidence and ease when he performs. He has shown that he can do any type of rock and roll and also can sing a ballad from a musical just as well. I think the winner of Idol should be the complete package. David Archuleta is not the complete package. He may have a nice voice , but he's dull and too little boyish. If it were up to me, the final would be between David C and Syesha and may the best singer win. Of course if I had any say in the matter, "smelly cat" Brooke would have been gone during Hollywood week. So, I guess I'm just tough out of luck. American Idol execs will make whoever THEY want win......just like they do every other year!
Anyone else anticipating what tricks will be up Idol's sleeve tonight? Which brings me back to a happier time..."I AM YOUR BROTHER, YOUR BEST FRIEND FOREVER"!!!
BUH-BYE Syesha, Hello the New American Idol, David Cook!
David C deserves to win. David A has a good voice, but no stage presence. Syesha is a good Broadway choice. I think David A's dad is having a bad influence on his son and maybe the kid needs to kick back and enjoy his high school years and mature enough so that he can deal with an overly obnoxious stage father.
people stop rashing on david archuleta. kay. yea he isnt a hip hop singer his voice isnt for that, its more like billy joel sounding or other people who sings alot of ballads. And yes people who are saying THIS IS A TALENT contest needs to sgut there mouthh cuz david has talent he is 17 for god sakes and he has an amazing voice. he didnt choose those ballads last night he chose a hip hop sonng got it. And yea david a is boignn SIKE people, he isnt... i think he is the best singer on that stage, i mean come one we have enough of the syesha and cook type
rihannah alicia keys and more then we got daughtry nickle back fall out boy. yes i love all those people. but david archuleta brings unique to the table.
I love David Cook. How can anyone say that he sounds the sam every week any more than David Archuletta? I feel like I am hearing the same song over and over again when David A. sings - just with a different outfit on. Syesha has a beautiful voice but sounds the same as any other Whitney, Alicia, Celine or Tina. There is nothing that distinguishes her voice. She would do well on Broadway. David Cook needs to pick THE song next week. Anything that he sings could be a hit on the radio today. David A. would be playing in the dentist office.
Unfortunately, Syesha is up against two guys much more talented than she. She does have a great voice and can handle herself on stage, but, alas, so also do many others. She's had a good ride, but her time is done. Both Davids have huge talent. David A. needs a little more stage presence to be an American Idol. Too bad he didn't wait a couple of years. So, it looks like David C. will win the prize. By the way, I chose him at the very beginning.
Ok, David A . is a cute kid and can sing, would I run out and buy his album, not!
My 8 year old granddaughter said she can sing better and faster than him. lol
David Cook is fresh and bold and all kinds of ready to release an album, would I buy his album most likely his hip he's today he's now.
Syesha has a very nice voice I think she would be a fantastic actress/singer maybe do a little broadway or a couple of musicals - would i buy her album? maybe a single here and there- album probably not!
I would like a face off between David Cook and Syesha- babyboy is boring and the judges are trying to push him through
Just
I just don't care anymore but I like reading the comments. I can't even watch anymore.
Ok, I'm late to the party and this will go unread, but here goes:
All season...nay, every season...they are asked to be unique, while still playing to their strengths, avoid predictability, and deliver vocals worthy of a "singing" competition.
I know where the battle lines are, and now, I know how it all went down. But, in truth, the only one who delivered on the concept of the show was Syesha. Already slated to sing two current songs that showed her as a modern R&B recording artist, she chose a song that played to her strengths (and beauty) with Fever. Abdul never says things like she did last night...this was a planned, manicured, ushered in flogging of Syesha so that the producers could have their orgasmic "The Davids" headlines.
For me, Archulatta and Cook plateaued a few weeks ago and never moved off the straight, dull line. Syesha, despite being in MOST of the bottom pciks wek after week, made it to third and grew, imporved, and listened.
Show's done.
i love david archuleta's voice - i think he can connect with a lot of people. but not all people! and that's okay! everyone's entitled to their own opinion. not everyone likes the same type of music.
that said i hope when he comes out with an album it has more up-tempo songs on it. he does a great job with ballads, yes, but even i can't listen to them all the time. actually someone remixed his studio version of "think of me" and it's really good (his voice sounds very contemporary...once you fast forward through 30 seconds of unnecessary techno beats at the beginning). go to YouTube and check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSc8eONq3iE (disregard the bad video). you can download the mp3 here: http://www.archieangels.com/
you can also download
"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was amazing...orchestra included!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
