Stars for Next 'Dancing'

ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" returns on Monday, March 9, and here's the just-announced list of participants, including married couple Ty Murray and Jewel (above).
Belinda Carlisle, singer with the Go-Go's and a solo artist.
David Alan Grier, host of "Chocolate News."
Jewel, singer, married to fellow competitor Ty Murray.
Shawn Johnson, Olympic medalist in gymnastics.
Lil Kim, hip-hop artist, fashion icon, and ex-con.
Gilles Marini, Samantha's hot neighbor in the "Sex and the City" movie.
Ty Murray, rodeo champion, married to fellow competitor Jewel.
Nancy O'Dell, "Access Hollywood" host.
Denise Richards, actress, reality star, and Charlie Sheen ex.
Steve-O, "Jackass" alum.
Lawrence Taylor, former NFL star.
Chuck Wicks, country singer.
Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder.

It's truly amazing with the economic turmoil, layoffs and protests for "more money" the lead story on this stattions web site is the new line up for 'Dancing with the Stars". It clearly shows where our collective priorities are.
I don't know how people can watch this garbage. Shows like this are the cheapest for the networks to produce and the "viewers" don't seem to care one bit. Between this show and "American Idol" it's obvious that there is a segment of the public that will watch anything the networks produce, no matter what a poor excuse for "entertainment" they throw at them.
I want to know when they're going to do Dancing with the Not Stars so I can go on and learn how to dance!
Re: Xonophon's comments -- Aren't we allowed a little escapism and guilty pleasure in times of turmoil, economic or otherwise? -- perhaps ESPECIALLY in times of turmoil???? Lighten up a bit. This was not the "lead story" on this web site.
Oy, I think I'm gonna vomit.. this is the worst group ever... The founder of Apple???!?!? He's a "star"?!?!?!?
It's a blog about TV. Even with the state of the economy, or maybe especially because of the state of the economy, people are looking for escapism and cheap entertainment.
you looked at it ! (xenophon)
I won't be watch, they are getting worse in putting the show, KY was the best
pick ever, they should put her in there again. She is like born to dance like that.
It's actually one of the few Reality TV Shows worth watching. It's bringing back into focus an icredible art and talent. Ballroom dancing has been on tv for years and it's beautiful to see. Don't watch it if you don't want, but don't knock it because it happens to be in categorized with those other awful reality shows. As for this cast, the only one who is DESPICABLE is Denise Richards and believe me she is SOOO NOT the reason I'll be watching.
Can't wait to get a load of Jewel in one of those outfits...
Hey Xenophon and TrueFaith, lighten up! After listening to NPR (economic gloom and doom) all day, and reading the NY Times, Globe and Wall Street Journal (more gloom and doom), I won't make myself feel guilty about watching a show that makes me feel good. There are very few things on TV that are harmless entertainment and are fun to watch these days(thank you RayRay01). The DWTS folks don't take themselves seriously, especially Tom Bergeron, so perhaps you shouldn't take them seriously either. They're just fun! One thing I would like them to do is ask for suggestions for dancers. I agree with Stephanie that Kristi Yamaguchi was the best dancer ever and she should be a professional next season. I'd like to see Mary Tyler Moore as the token "old lady"
Wheb are they going to announce the "pairs" - who is dancing with which professional dancer?
Not a fan of DWTS but I do love So You Think You Can Dance - I can't wait for THAT show.
with the current economoe recession going dancing is like throwing the jewel in the pit laterin
