Flight of the Conchords show is over
I'm not going to frame this as bad news. Sad, maybe, but not bad.
In an announcement on their website, the Flight of the Conchords guys say they have decided not to make a third season of their HBO series. They write: "We’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season. We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist."
So the guys have given us two remarkable seasons of comedy. That's not a bad thing. And if they went forward with another season without the desire or the true creative motivation, the show would only start to decline, right? It would compromise what made it special in the first place. More is not always better. Like the original "Office" and "Extras," "Flight of the Conchords" will stand proud in TV history as a two-season wonder.
