Expectant mom Jessica Simpson will star in a semi-autobiographical sitcom on NBC. Though Simpson will be portraying a version of herself on the show, actors will be hired to play her father/manager Joe Simpson and fiancÚ Eric Johnson. This will be Simpson's second attempt at scripted television. In 2004, she filmed a self-titled pilot with ABC, but the episode never made it on air.
The "With You" singer made her television debut in 2003 on MTV's "Newlyweds," a reality show about her marriage to boy-band star Nick Lachey. The two split in 2005. Since then, Simpson has appeared on NBC's reality series "Fashion Star," alongside "The Simple Life's" Nicole Richie.
