"American Idol" judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are both playing the "one and done" card and stepping down after their first season on the singing competition. The diva songbirds -- and their alleged feud -- were the focus of much the anticipation leading up to season 12 when they took over panel spots left vacant by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Country crooner/Nicole Kidman's husband, Keith Urban rounded out the foursome with longtime judge Randy Jackson.
Both ladies turned to Twitter to confirm their departures from the show, Minaj directly, Mariah through a retweet from PR firm PMK•BNC:
Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) May 30, 2013
Randy Jackson announced his own departure after 12 seasons earlier this month.
Which leaves... Keith Urban.
And possibly Jennifer Hudson and a gaggle of other "Idol" alums who have been rumored to be returning on the other side of the stage... but only possibly.
While the fate of the "Idol" judging panel still lies in the hands of Ryan Seacrest (not really, but we can assume who calls the shots there), we want to know: what do you think of the departures? Will you miss Mariah or Nicki? What about Randy? Remember him? Discuss here.
And until we know more, here's that awkward (but enjoyable) Barbara Walters interview when Mariah Carey threw some serious shade at Nicki Minaj again:
