The Bay State has another local reason to watch "The Voice."
Hanson's Kristen Merlin auditioned for the NBC reality singing competition in the Season 6 premiere on Monday night, singing Sugarland's "Something More." The performance first turned the chair of team mentor Adam Levine, quickly followed by the mentor to his left, Shakira.
After she finished her performance and heard from the pair on why she should choose their teams, Usher urged Merlin to make a choice.
"You guys make this really tough on me," Merlin said. "Coming into this, I had a completely different idea of what I thought I was going to go for. So it's kind of surprising to me, but I'm going to go with Shakira."
Merlin isn't the only Massachusetts-based rocker to make it onto the show. Last year, Wellesley native Michelle Chamuel made it to the finals of "The Voice" Season 4, ultimately coming in second at the June finale.
