| Average Joe Chat 3/2/2004 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm In the end, Larissa picked the hunk. But Boston's Brian Worth, the last of the Average Joes, took his best shot . Boston.com users had the chance to chat with Brian the day after the "Average Joe 2: Hawaii" finale. | |
| Brian_Worth: 2:05 pm | Hi everybody, I just want to say thanks to everybody who has come out to talk to me and to those for giving me great comments and support. I am glad I did this reality show and took the risk. Although at first I didn't want to do it, I made the right decision in trying this thing out. I also want to say, I live in East Boston. |
| hilary: 2:05 pm | What do you think of Fabio? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:06 pm | Fabio has made a career out of being a good-looking guy and that's fantastic. He's probably the last person I would have guessed Larissa dated. |
| rage_campell: 2:06 pm | do you think larissa is genuinely a good person? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:06 pm | No doubt about it. And that was one of the things that really got me first attracted to her. |
| Amancia: 2:07 pm | Hi Brian, we were really rooting for you here in Los Angeles, in the end though, she just wasn`t worthy of you. If she contacted you now, would you still be interested in her? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:07 pm | Wow. I can't say no. I would definitely talk with her. |
| CJ: 2:09 pm | Was the show a lot different on TV than it was live because of editing? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:10 pm | No. It was not. Watching the show, the main story was told very accurately. I think that everyone was accurately portrayed in terms of their personalities. I met the editors last night. They said to me, "thank you for being the person you are. You made it very easy to portray you." In some reality shows, they have to dig for people, they have to create something out of nothing for conte... |
| flyingeb: 2:12 pm | Are you glad to see her get the same treatment that she gave you? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:12 pm | Part of me does not want to see her get hurt. I don't want to say I am happy, but part of me was glad that she got a taste of what I, and the other guys, felt. |
| sandyfl: 2:13 pm | Brian, what has your dating life been like after AJ2? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:13 pm | Well, to preserve the integrity of the show, I haven't dated at all. But as of today, I am officially on the market and ready date. |
| rage_campell: 2:13 pm | when you ate the sushi on your private date -- how bad was the sushi? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:14 pm | Hahaha, I was surprised actually how good it was. I said to Larissa, I would do it again. If someone would like to got eat sushi with me I would do it. |
| hugomontablond: 2:15 pm | Can the Sox beat the Yanks? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:15 pm | As a die-hard redsox fan, I think everyone feels the redsox can beat the Yankees. At least in the regular season. I don't know about the playoffs. |
| arteitle: 2:16 pm | What happened immediately after you got on the bus after not being selected by Larissa? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:16 pm | The cameras followed me up and an interview began. The standard interview: "How are you feeling right now? Are you upset?" They were rifling questions at me. I told them I just wanted to go back to the hotel. |
| wjw1000: 2:19 pm | Brian.... I felt that you were very real and sincere, and did not find that to be the case with Larissa. In watching the show, did she appear less than authentic to you? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:19 pm | Larissa was in a tough position. Maybe at times on TV, it appeared like that, but I think that's only because reality TV can wear you down. You may get into a mood that may depict you as less than authentic. But I believe she was genuine and authentic. |
| sandyfl: 2:20 pm | What was the best experience, aside from your awesome date, that you had on the show? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:21 pm | Meeting Tim Wakefield and going down to Fenway Park. And playing catch with him (they didn't show that on TV). We played catch in center field and he showed me how to throw the knuckleball and I tried to catch his. |
| rage_campell: 2:23 pm | are you and fredo going to stay in touch? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:24 pm | I'll wait until I hear from him. I have not talked to him since the end of the show. I don't have his information either. |
| sandyfl: 2:25 pm | Did you watch the first Average Joe, and do you feel a kinship with Adam or any of the other guys from the first one? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:26 pm | I watched it because of my personal interest. I wanted to compare and contrast their cast with my cast. And their events and the girl they pursued. I was contacted by Dennis Luciani and while I was out in LA I did meet half the guys from the first show including Jason Peoples. |
| Touchdown: 2:26 pm | Besides all the show accomodations and dates, have you been compensated for being on the show? In other words, didja make any money?? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:27 pm | No, I was not compensated at all. I received zero money. |
| lyn: 2:27 pm | Are you planning on returning to your "old life"? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:27 pm | I returned to my old life as soon as I got back from filming. I went back to work and still do the exact same things that I did prior to the show. |
| Big_Brian_Worth_Fan: 2:28 pm | Hey Brian, When was this filmed? Do you keep in contact with any of the guys? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:29 pm | It was filmed in July and August. I bump into the Boston guys. We have exchanged information. Now we are allowed to keep in contact and we'll start hanging out together. |
| Phuc_Phan: 2:30 pm | Brian, which of the Average Joes did you like the least (and why)? Which Hunk did you like the most? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:30 pm | I'm not going to answer which I liked the least. The two hunks I liked the most were Gil and Jim. |
| tadd: 2:31 pm | Hey Brian - Did you know how the show ended before you saw it on tv last night--that she was rejected? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:31 pm | No, I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. |
| Melanie617: 2:34 pm | How long ago did Larissa make her decision? How do you feel now that the show`s over? Anything you would have done differently? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:34 pm | It's been six months. I feel very relieved that I can talk about my experience now. To have to keep the whole emotional rollercoaster inside for six months was very difficult. I'm glad I went through what I went through, because I really needed that. Living in a fantasy world with a fantastic woman, it made me go through it and I'm grateful. |
| hugomontablond: 2:36 pm | Were you happy with the way the show was edited? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:36 pm | Yes, I'm very happy. But in episode two, I wish there was more showed when we met Roy Jones Jr. All of our antics with the boxing gloves made for some great comedy. You can only put so much in an hour. The show could have been funnier than Seinfeld. |
| goldie: 2:38 pm | Were you really in love with her, or did you just want to see how for this would go |
| Brian_Worth: 2:38 pm | I truly believe I was. Of course I was. Living in a fantasy world with her allowed my barriers to come down and I was very focused on her unlike anybody I've ever met. I got as emotionally invested as I think anybody can get. |
| B__Lippman: 2:38 pm | Do you think that you`ll do another Average Joe show like Adam? One where you get to call the shots? (the Back Bay was all for you!) |
| Brian_Worth: 2:39 pm | There is no talk of that at this time. But you never know. They could ask any of the Average Joes to come back for another season where one of us gets to pick. |
| Beantown: 2:41 pm | How would you have reacted when she told you about Fabio? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:41 pm | I probably would have had the same look on my face as when her mother asked me if I would rather go to the seventh game of the world Series seventh game or Larissa's art exhibit. On one of the dates she told me she was with someone very famous. I was expecting something but I wouldn't have expected Fabio. I would have let it go, but I would have been very surprised. |
| sandyfl: 2:43 pm | I read your comments on disliking watching yourself on tv on the nbc website. Do you still feel that way after seeing the show? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:44 pm | On the premiere, I started getting nervous on Friday. As the show progressed, it would just start on Monday. And now after nine episodes, I'm actually used to it. I don't sink down into my chair anymore. |
| Big_Brian_Worth_Fan: 2:45 pm | Was David Daskel putting on a show or was he really that upbeat and off the wall? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:46 pm | David Daskal is that hyper. When he came out the other night in LA, I met up with him and mike Splitaletto, David Daskle behaved the same way that he did the first weekend we moved into the house on Hawaii. I heard "Daavid Daaskle" about eighty times that night. |
| rembrandt: 2:47 pm | Did you or the producers design the date in Boston -- with the Fenway Park visit and all? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:47 pm | I was asked for suggestions for the hometown date and Fenway Park and meeting my friends for dinner were all my suggestions. The ship was their idea. |
| dlynn2: 2:48 pm | was it difficult to watch the show last night? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:48 pm | It was very difficult. I actually had an emotional reaction. I had to fight off a few tears. I became sniffley. |
| Sparkles: 2:49 pm | Hey I thought I saw you at Coogans with a couple of the other guys a few weeks ago.. Is that your normal hangout place |
| Brian_Worth: 2:49 pm | Once in a while. I normally hang out at The Place, The Rack, and other bars around Faneuil Hall. |
| Rebekah: 2:51 pm | It was interesting to see how the friendships and rivalries developed on the show. Did any of the "joes" actually befriend any of the "hunks" or was the rivalry that intense? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:53 pm | If you want to speak in terms of me, Jim, and Gil and myself are very good friends. But immediately when the hunks came in, David Daskal befriended all of them. |
| arteitle: 2:53 pm | How does it feel to see the support most viewers of the show have for you? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:53 pm | Nothing short of unbelievable. |
| C-Town_Sully_2: 2:54 pm | What hurt more, watching Larissa with Gil or watching Aaron Boone hit that homerun? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:54 pm | That's a great question. I would say, watching Larissa with Gil. But it's almost a toss up. |
| Chris_Rattey: 2:54 pm | We have five minutes left. Please send in your final questions. |
| BostonBetty: 2:56 pm | Did it make you uneasy that she was kissing SOOO many other men? |
| Brian_Worth: 2:56 pm | I didn't enjoy watching her kissing, but I know she's not exclusive to me. In going out and dating other guys, of course she is going to kiss but I didn't like watching it on TV. |
| withr_s: 2:56 pm | Do you think you had her at "is this a puppet show?" great job last night buddy |
| Brian_Worth: 2:56 pm | Yes I did, Phuc. |
| Mitzi: 3:01 pm | When you all were saying your goodbyes at the end, it looked pretty emotional. Were there any `behind the scene` shots or conversations that we didn`t see or hear? |
| Brian_Worth: 3:01 pm | We really didn't say any goodbyes. After you were eliminated, you really didn't get to talk to anyone. You were brought over to a separate area. The eliminated Joes were taken away then we were able to come out and go back to our house. |
| Chris_Rattey: 3:10 pm | Thank you very much for participating in our chat. Please visit our Arts & Entertainment section later this afternoon for the transcript. Thank you Brian, and best of luck. |
| Brian_Worth: 3:10 pm | I just want to thank everybody for coming out to chat today. I can't believe the support I've gotten from everybody. I couldn't have imagined it would have turned out this way for me. I want to thank everybody. |
