There are four worthy actors in this category. Hamm is both debonair and broken; Laurie makes every scene into a tour de force; and Hall has created a unique manchild-superhero-
murderer. I have to go with Byrne (left), though. As the complicated therapist, he was amazingly present in every episode of the show, even while his clients were doing the talking.
