New Fall Schedule:
Tuesday nights
C RODNEY (ABC) 9:30 p.m. Starring: Rodney Carrington
They say: Yet another take on working-class family-coms such as “Still Standing.’’ Carrington tries to make it as a stand-up comic; his family tries to accept it.
We say: He’s no Dangerfield, but Carrington’s likable enough. His material, however, won’t get no respect.
Should be known as: “Still Standing Up’’

B CLUBHOUSE (CBS) 9 p.m.
Starring: Jeremy Sumpter, Mare Winningham, Dean Cain, Christopher Lloyd
They say: A fatherless 16-year-old works as a baseball batboy. Cain plays the third baseman who mentors him, and Lloyd is the paternal equipment manager.
We say: Wholesome and at times poignant, with an appealing lead in the unhip Sumpter.
Should be known as: “Mowing the Field of Dreams’’

B- FATHER OF THE PRIDE (NBC) 9 p.m. (Pictured above)
Starring the voices of: John Goodman, Carl Reiner, Cheryl Hines
They say: A CGI-com from the “Shrek’’ folks about a family of lions in Siegfried and Roy’s Vegas show. Papa lion wants sex, Mama lion withholds it to control him. Wacky neighbors visit.
We say: Lion-on-lion action, anyone? This ’toon is great-looking, but it leans heavily on the gender cliches of live-action family-coms.
Should be known as: “Those Darn Cats!’’

B+ HOUSE (Fox) 9 p.m.
Starring: Hugh Laurie
They say: Laurie’s Dr. House is a genius at curing rare illnesses and an idiot at bedside manner. His one true love: painkillers. From the creator of “Homicide: Life on the Street.’’
We say: Laurie has the potential to distinguish this otherwise familiar medical series. He makes cranky look swanky. Should be known as: “Marcus Not So Welby’’

A- VERONICA MARS (UPN) 9 p.m.
Starring: Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni
They say: By night, she’s a clever PI in a California beach town. By day, she’s a bored student outcast battling the high school in-crowd. She’s Veronica Mars, and she’s out of this world.
We say: Bell is bellissima as the wry teen heroine. Will viewers flip to UPN for one of the season’s best dramas?
Should be known as: “Veronica, the Pretense Slayer’’
