Stars: Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James

The concept: From “The Shield’’ creator Shawn Ryan, this buddy series teams an ex-cop and his best friend as private investigators. Their little jobs snowball into higher-stakes cases. The humor is balanced by the guys’ untethered personal lives.

Am I hooked? Yes indeed. It’s no dog. Ryan mixes flawed, gritty, full-bodied characters with oddball crimes. Logue and Raymond-James, who was Rene on “True Blood,’’ are naturals together.

Alternate title: “The Good ‘Good Guys’ ’’
