H.R. Pufnstuf

1969

Here's the setup: A boy named Jimmy (Jack Wild) is beckoned by a magical boat, which he boards, and is quickly turned into an evil pirate ship by a witch (Billie Hayes). So he bails from the boat, washes ashore, and is rescued by H.R. Pufnstuf — Sid and Marty Krofft's oversized puppet dragon creation that has become synonymous with the Krofft name. The trippy, brightly colored show has long been accused of containing drug references, claims that the Kroffts adamantly deny.
