4. TRAGEDY OF TERI

We always knew "24" didn't shy away from action and plot. The major twists, including the exposure of Nina as a mole, came fast and furiously from day one (although not as fast or furiously or ridiculously as they would in later seasons). But in this finale, when Nina kills Jack's wife, Teri, we knew that even the major characters weren't immune to death on "24." Teri's death - she was not resurrected for season 2 - made the first season into something more than an action thrill-ride. As Jack (pictured with Elisha Cuthbert) cradled his dead wife in his arms, "24" became a tragedy.
