3. LICKING THE ENEMY

"Seinfeld"
Seventh season finale, May 16, 1996
"The Invitations"

How would George get out of his coming wedding to Susan? There was clearly no way this stubbornly unsentimental sitcom would marry off any of its pathological characters - most of all George (right). And fans were not disappointed when George buys cheap envelopes and Susan (left) dies licking them. We always knew "Seinfeld" was cold, and this was hard evidence. Also, "The Invitations" was the last episode written by Larry David, before he came back to help with the series finale.

(Gary Null)
Jason Alexander and Heidi Swedberg
