At night, the Coolidge Corner area looks like Hollywood's version of a small town - a movie theater, cutesy restaurants, indie bookstore and couples walking hand-in-hand. Take the Green Line to Coolidge.
Anna's Taqueria
We have a friend who dropped out and moved to Oaxaca and, since he's been back, never stops talking about "authentic" Mexican food. We hate him. But respect him. And the man loves Anna's, the closest thing to the real deal. Line up and get served - the fresh corn tortillas wrap around grilled veggies, moist chicken, chili verde, beans, cheese - and it's way cheap.

Rubin's Kosher Deli
You've probably eaten at Jewish-style restaurants. Now, try the real thing. Rubin's is 100-percent kosher, which means you won't find meat and cheese served together. Instead, the corned beef, tongue and turkey breast is piled high, as if to compensate. "Overstuffeds" start at $10 but you won't be hungry for days.

Zaftig's Delicatessen
One of Boston's most popular breakfast joints, this Jewish eatery's modern-art-meets-diner atmosphere is perfect for your roommates, your mom or a date. We went on a laid-back Thursday morning, but business booms on the weekends, especially Sunday brunch. Service can be slow, but try their great omelettes and buttermilk pancakes - they make up for any delay.
