Two world records were set yesterday in the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Michael Phelps broke his own world record in the men's 400-meter individual medley with a time of 4:05.25, and Katie Hoff qualified for her second Olympics with her own world record in the women’s 400-meter individual medley with a time of 4:31.12. The trials will continue through July 6th. (13 photos total)

Absolutely fantastic!!! That's all! ^_^
It's like to swim in the eyes of this girl: http://davidlatache.blogspot.com/2008/05/livia-fashion-portrait.html
Amazing!!! The photography is exquisite. It truly is an artform especially in action.
I love this blog!
David La Tache is lookin for a job.
[quindi farsi il nome francese non basta per sfondare nella fotografia...mmm, sappimi dire se spammare su blog fotografici in giro funziona]
This blog is great! I just have one question... After all the time they spend in a pool you'd think they'd have at least a little bit of a tan:)
Look at their muscle underneath the armpit....looks like they are manta ray wings!
Superb taste for photos and compilation. And the super rich hi-res posts make the rest of the 320x480 net downright dull! Keep them coming!! Best blog, hands down!
Love the way the water is caught on their bodies and all around them. These are fantastic. This blog is fantastic! To "Danger," most of the serious swimmers I know train and compete in indoor pools in swimming facilities.
What incredible photos, especially the 5th one, wow... :)
It's really important for me the choice of hi-res for the images, I think that is the real innovation in the world of photos on the web.
[sarah, se mi contattassi privatamente saprei risponderti ai chiarimenti, e forse anche alle accuse, che mi rivolgi. basta aggiungere gmail.com al mio nome francese]
great images, but sadly still no metadata of the caption and photographer inside the pics.
These images are absolutely fantastic. They are artistic and poetic, and each one tells its own story -- power, strength, fluidity, determination, competitiveness, triumph. Fanatastic!
I can't wait for each new blog of photos....the swim trials make me speechless! Thank you, thank you.
nice to see liz beisel getting some love on here!
Same here...as an art photographer, I'm often disappointed by the tiny, low-res crud that passes for "news photos" on online newspaper sites these days. Kudos to you for making the best use possible of these PJ's excellent work.
Alan Super job with all the great pictures. Love the format.
Very happy with three times a week. We don't want you to burn out.
Dan
Pic #6 has fantastic timing and a weird fun-house mirror effect.
Pic #7 looks like Jake is covered in some sort of gel a la the Matrix.
Great choices.
I love these pics- The water formation around the swimmers- the under water- is so awesome!!
Absolutely fantastic ! That's all
The fans of Michael Phelps were mad with joy at the victory.
#7 - Thats my boyfriend!!!!!!!! and you should see the rest of him! :)
michael phelps is the greatest thing to ever land on the face of the earth. I would do anything to meet him.
I'm waiting for rhytmic gymnastics :)

Amazing pictures. You can see the strength emitted from the swimmers.
This is why I've almost completely lost interest in the Olympics. It used to be about equally-matched opponents going to head-to-head on the field of athletic battle. Now our best athletes are more a reflection of the advancements in our technology when it comes to training and equipment (those 'aquaman' Speedo suits). We're hooking up our athletes to Gatorade-sponsored treadmills to improve their CO2-oxygen transfer rates, shoving the latest PowerGel concoctions down their throats, and hooking them up to motion capture machines to perfect their movements down to the slightest flicker of their little toe. Athletes in less-affluent countries (read: most of the world) are putting their athletes in swimming pools and having them swim. The savages.
Prepare for world records to fall and our medal count to rise. And maybe between all the McDonald's and Coke commercials we can try to figure out what happened to the spirit of fair competition.
KevJohn, I totally agree with you. Only last week I was watching on BBC news our Olympic hopefulls training solidly with state of the at technology and high end foods and clothing etc.
Why is it that if an athlete is found to be taking / taken performance enhancing drugs he or she is banned, fined and faces jail. Yet, all of these training regimes and advances in equipment technology seem to be the same thing...a chance for richer and more affluent countries to make their athletes better, while those in poorer countries do not have access to these machines.
It's not fair. And just as stem-cell research is not legal, I don't think this should be either.
On a lighter note, despite britain's oh-so-brilliant ways of training our athletes, generally they're still no match for eastern europeans, africans or americans. So, it seems all this money being spent to prepare our great athletes is going to waste, just like all of britain's tax payments!!
thanks great photos
GO USA !
u r the best@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
take care
gooooooooooooooooooooood
thanks
Your masterful photos capture the single minded focus and intensity of competition along with the solitude and isolation each athlete endures. Bravo!
What a great collection of pics!!!

very nice,intresting and atractive.
Thanks a lot.
Poze remarcabile, mai ales unghiul din care sunt facute si perspectiva sunt ingenioase. Iar calitatea foto le face absolut impresionante.
this is amazing
Best of what you are doing and the picture you are having
you don't have to have a tan just because you are a swimmer...alot of swim meets are now INdoor.. and alot of swimmers PRACTICE indoors.. i'm whiter than clouds , and i went to the '92 trials.. i am 39 and still swim and have those lats that look like manta rays... hehe when i was younger we swam outdoors..and there are still outdoor meets but alot of places are opting to have indoor meets because of ozone layer scare and burns the skin faster...
