President-elect Obama arrived in Washington by train, starting in Pennsylvania, passing through Wilmington and Baltimore. This is unbelievable people are drooling over Obama. Our country needs to wake up, maybe a 100 million dollar inaugaration isn't necessary if our economy is in such dire economic straits.

Don't you feel better that Sarah Palin is not the vice president today? Obama was not my first choice, but the prospect of Sarah Palin as potential president is just too scary! Obama should personally thank her for helping him win.
Now, aside from all the hoopla about the "first African American president" and the media circus to gain better network ratings, Obama has a tough road ahead of him. The media portrays him as the Messiah. But he has some very, very difficult issues to deal with. May God guide him through the challenges ahead of him and may he keep us from harm's way.

Many wise sages have lamented to the overly gullible "we are the world" types.

Don't just present problems...
Present solution to those problems...

To date including the Inauguration...
Lot's of problems have been listed....
NO SOLUTION HAVE BEEN PRESENTED....NO SUBSTANCE, JUST BLATHERING OF THE OBVIOUS.

Obama Talks the talk, yet has never in his entire Political life presented a "REAL" solution to any of our nations woes. If this "Star Search" society would only check the record and not believe the "Glam machine" that the media has turned this Inauguration into they would be very wary of what the future holds.

Well, he says he wants to take a 1.3 trillion dollar deficit and add another 800 billion dollars in spending to it that we don't have and will have to borrow.

Why is that greatness? Telling congress to spend spend spend is not greatness. Is this what he ran on, outspending Bush? Pelosi and Reid told us two years ago they would stop the spending to protect our children. Since then they have massively outspent the Republican congress.

This isn't change, it's corruption.

to #103--Sorry but you're wrong. Obama lived in Jakarta, Indonesia with his mother and Indonesian stepfather from about age 6-10 and attended local schools there.

John, #136. What do you mean "so far"? The man was only inaugurated three hours ago! In very basic and simple terms, the reason why I voted for Obama is because of his humility and his views of diplomacy, including the realization that the USA is a powerful country, but it cannot succeed by turning its back on other powers in this world and failing to listen to their voices. I voted for him because when Wall Street failed, he was the candidate that did not want to rush into a solution without thinking it through. He's always shown the utmost levelheadedness even though his country is crumbling around him. I voted for him because he's never afraid to admit "I don't know the answer to that." and always seeks advice from those who do know. To, me in every way, he has showed the makings of a great leader.

Personally I will never vote for someone that hasn't spent time in the military.
It's hard to believe the citizens of the US blindly jumped on his band wagon but at this point I'm going to be optimistic and hope for the best.

I love the anti-Obama posters. Thanks for reminding us all of what this nation is tired of. Thanks for reminding us why we elected this intelligent, mature, loving, evolving young man as our next leader in these perrilous times.

Keep reading your Coulter, sucking down your Rush mental oxycontin. That'll guarantee that we get 8 years of this wonderful man's leadership.

To all the complaints about spending money on an inauguration:

Standard Operating Procedure -- there is a way that things are done. There's a handbook on how a current administration (Bush in this case) is to run an inauguration and it doesn't change much. The cost from event to event probably pretty much tracks the rate of inflation.

Security/safety is a separate factor and not the place where you try to get by on the cheap. Let's say that YOU are in charge of protecting an estimated two million citizens who are coming to witness the event, and -- oh, by the way -- most of the leaders of all three branches of government. Why don't you start by poring through the accounts of the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, and then go protect people spread over a couple of square miles in the center of our nation's capital. Send me the bill and I'll pay it if you'll agree to pay the price if you screw it up.

One more thing that's a recurring feature each time an inauguration rolls around -- people complaining that the ceremony costs too much. Most -- but not all -- complaints come from people who did not vote for the individual being inaugurated.

Personally, I complain that too many government offices leave the lights on or let the water run or buy too many doughnuts. Over the course of four years that probably costs more than an inauguration.

President Obama is not the savior of America. He is a man, like any other man. He has his strengths and weaknesses. He will make mistakes as every other President has. He will do right things. But, to place so much hope in one man is dangerous and ridiculous at the same time.
Though I didn't vote for President Obama, I will support him as our President. Though I do not agree with much of his policy, I wish for the best under his leadership. But, America will not rise again unless we continue to pray to God and help those less fortunate.

#119:

If you're proud of the last eight years, its illegal torture, its illegal wiretapping, its illegal secrecy... its million dead civilians in Iraq, based on lies ("mistake" my ass - they cooked the intelligence through Feith in the Office of Special Plans)... then you are not a real American. America is not what you decide it will be, you old bigot, it will be what it always has been: against torture (Washington established this with the British), by and for the people (not spying on us and destroying records and emails and keeping energy policy and other meetings secret), and one would assume the truth (just for decency sake).

It is clear that Bush and others in his administration lied. At the very least, they have authorized torture, both Cheney and Bush have now admitted that. If Obama does represent a return to our moral, ethical roots, he will have to allow the prosecutions of Bush and the rest. If we are to remain a nation of law, it must apply to everybody. There is no exception for torture, in our laws or in the treaties we have signed. I am proud at the moment, but will lose my hope if Obama stands in the way of justice.

Even talk radio republicans said the government didn't spend too much on this, it was private money, except for security.

All I know is he has asked us to unite as people, that is what makes our country strong. I feel in the past we had more unity, it's time to bring it back.

Revisit your enthusiasm 12 months from now after the $2 trillion of spending created "out of thin air" causes inflation to skyrocket to double digits, you can't get a car loan for less than 18% and your Mastercard and Visa rates go to 32%. You cannot get something for nothing. But that would take brains ... which you Obamafanatics disengaged to create this guy ...

Hello, Thank you very much for the beautiful photo,s. We from Holland and we saw every thing. Beste heer Obama, wij wensen u vanuit Nederland heel veel succes toe.
We love you.

Yes, for the first time in my adult life(54), I am proud to be an American.
We, the people have spoken! Over 60 million voting Americans. Black, White, Latino, Asian, Italian, Mexican, the list of blood lines goes on....
YES WE DID! MY REASONS FOR VOTING FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA BEGINS WITH THIS........
1) The man is an organizer. 2) Intelligent and common sense. 3) True, he didn't vote all the time in the Senate. ( A wise man waits his time while listening and studying those around him) 4.) Chose to turn to the people, via internet. 5) Patient.

Now Sen. Obama is President Obama. One of his first acts as POTUS, was to freeze Senior White House Staff wages. Sounds like a good start in DC.
We, the people made our choice. Proud that all races, religions, Gay, Straight, Dems and Repubs...We stood and said..Now is the time for change! Black and White stood together and WALKED/MARCHED decades ago. For that , and other progressions, so that today Mr. Obama could RUN! Now we are a country with blood of all races. The page hasn't quite turned, it has lifted. When a President succeeds, we all succeed. When they fail, we all fail. I will accept a great organizer , he appears to surround his adminstration with talent and leadership. God bless you, Mr. President. Just ask of me, how can I make a difference to help ourselves.

For those who are determined to be negative, despite the country's renewed sense of hope, determination, purpose, drive and elation; why don't you join in the process, instead of just wringing your hands and gnashing your teeth? There is soooooooo much to be done, so many tasks to complete, so much destruction to rebuild. Bush did not destroy the US reputation by himself and Obama will not be able to fix the mess by himself. We all know that a US president is not a rock star, but he symbolizes who we are as a nation. I see nothing wrong with celebrating the United States of America. After a long hard winter of discontent, everyone needs a party. But after the party, we need to begin the cleanup and EVERYONE needs to pitch in.

I think if Barack Obama, Oprah and the rest of the Afircan Americans all think that we should live up to Dr. Kings dream. Let live up to all of them. Dr. King said ",,,,,I have a dream that one day a person will not be judged by the color of his skin, but on the content of his charactor." I believe we should do that. First steps, get rid of all Affirmative Action plans and "quotas" for hiring that our placed on the employers. Also, on the Civil Service exams. Sound Good?

POSESIÓN DE BARAK OBAMA

Por Héctor José Corredor Cuervo
Colombia

Entre las tormentas de odio

de violencia y recesión,

subió un gobernante al podio

de poderosa nación.

Su nombre es Barak Obama

de africanos, descendiente,

quien logró alcanzar la fama

para ser el Presidente.

Él juró sobre una Biblia

acatar la Constitución,

ante toda la familia,

y trabajar por la unión

Su promesa es trabajar

con los mejores amigos

para poder entablar

relación con enemigos.

“Remar todos en el barco

hasta llegar a la orilla”,

expresó en un tono franco

sobre la roja alfombrilla.

Patriotismo con lealtad

coraje y trabajo honesto,

son valores de heredad

en discurso manifiesto.

“Quien se obstina en el poder

como dictador funesto

su amigo no puede ser

por estar en lado opuesto”.

Al gran pueblo musulmán

lo exhortó con mucho ardor

a comprender con afán

que la paz es lo mejor.

Igualdad en los humanos

como predicó el Señor,

es un llamado a hermanos

para vivir con amor.

Para salir de hipercrisis

se tendrá que trabajar

sin nombrar Apocalipsis

y con la ciencia contar.

Palabras de Luther King

y de probos mandatarios,

se transmitieron por fin

en todos los escenarios.

Ayudar a los demás

y a tener una esperanza

es mirada perspicaz

para acabar la matanza.

En el mundo hay gran euforia

por los cambios prometidos,

mas no cantaré victoria

hasta ver hechos cumplidos.

“Si se pudo, si se puede”

son los gritos de placer,

que por las calles se sienten

en un nuevo amanecer.

Mañana será otro día

para ver la realidad,

de sueños y fantasía

de un Obama, de verdad.

No wrong, it is called reversed field flag and is supposed to have the stars facing forward whichever uniform sleeve it is attached to, simulating a breeze as it is carried into the battlefield. It is military regulation.

Pray that God guide President Obama with wisdom to lead this country. You can see how it was handed over. The world thinks this mess is going to be fixed in 100 days.....NOT! Change will happen only when everyone embrace it. Besides, where were all these people that are complaining about the economy when the past President was still in. No one pressured him to clean up his mess. But they pressure the new guy to clean it up. We do need accountability like President Obama said!

Can anybody tell me why did they pass other countries flag during inaugural parade? Who does that? people? or it's just a tradition in inaugural parade. who choose to parrticipate which countries flag?!

e.g. in this link you can find they are passing Islamic Republic of Iran's flag during the inaugural parade in front of the White House http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/84379075/AFP

One more thing, I saw Obama's inaugural speech on TV and I am not sure how is he's going to deal with ayatollahs's nuclear issue in Iran and their tyranny. But here there is a good point though:

I was born in Colombia, South America, raised in New York since I was 8yrs old. I became a citizen through my mom when I was 14. Although not American born, daughter of a Colombian mom and a German dad, I have loved this country as my very own. When I see our flag my heart fills with joy and pride, regardless of the times our nation endures. I have always loved the ideals and morals this country was built on. I have always felt pain about that history in our past with slavery. I have always felt profound pain hearing or reading about segregation. On January 20,2009 I saw an America I've longed to see in my lifetime. I thank God I did.

For all those Obama haters, I say YESSSSSSSS WEEEEEEEEEEEE CANNNNNNNNNN! For the record I'm glad to see that BUSH BABY BOUNCE. He's on his ranch checking his accounts. He couldn't wait to get on thaat helicopter. So he could go back to spend those millions he stole from us. What millions or trillions? That oil is what I'm talking about. He was a big joke and unfortunately we all suffered. Even if you didn't vote for Obama, he is gonna be a better President than GWBush. He knows that we are counting on him, and he doesn't want to let us down. He won't be a miracle worker. hHERchange.JCHANCHANGE

For those commenting about taxpayers having to pay the bill for the inauguration, that is not entirely correct. Take the time to do your homework. Bush's inauguration came to $140 Million. Obama's came to approximately $150 Million, less than the rate of inflation over that span of years. The inauguration is paid for by donors. Security is paid for by taxpayers. Now ask yourselves why Obama's security costs would be so expensive and you will be forced to look at the history of bigotry in this nation. Extra precautions were taken as should be expected.

voted until now. I finally decided for myself that this is the will of God to vote. I
voted for President Barack Obama because that is was I heard in my spirit to do.

President Barack, and First Lady Michelle Obama,

I must first say that I'm proud of you both! For you have demoonstrated the true meaning of being an African America in the United States of America.
You both were ordained for the positions you hold. No weapon formed against you shall be able to prosper. You positioned yourselves through hard work, and determination, and God did the rest. Don't let God down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

When will we ever stop using the word "promise" in government. The "hope" for this intelligent man is that "we" will act in a way to preserve what needs to be preserved in this world. Stop standing on the sidelines waiting for "promises" to be broken. Start "doing" for yourselves and others around you in an honest, respectful way and the world will become a better place. Heed the wisdom and intelligence of the new president and help solve the problems. He is not the God or the solution to all the world's problems, but he is a voice in the right direction. Do your part.

I think it is so sad, the people that speak against our new president we were forced to support a president who put this country into turmoil, I believe most of the people who are speaking against him and not for what he stands for are the people who still want us to be stuck in Slavery, it is not the man that they don't except it is the color of his skin, that they are not excepting. I see us as a nation overcoming all of the hate. I believe those of us that have gotten over prejudice, can make this country work, the way god intended it to be. We will overcome, not as black people only, but as a nation of one.

Change is good! Let's begin by asking all the members of the Supreme Court, the Senate and Congress to take a 20% pay reduction. I, along with many other Americans gave up my job in 2008 and not by choice! If they want to lead by example, then I think they should volunteer to give up 20% of their annual salaries. Their salaries are so astronomical, they won't even miss it and it probably will be a huge boost to our economy as well. Come on you top leaders of America, put your money where your mouth is...or become quiet as church mice.

I truly believe that Obama and Biden will Plan their Administrative strategy Just as carefully as this Inauguration was planned. They have started out carefully es-
tablishing priorities as well as positive relationships in congress. Team building
in this way will do much to make progress on Capital Hill and forestall the gridlock
which impedes progress. Pray that the "Extremists" will stop sowing evil seeds
over the airwaves. This Perpetuates Discord and Division among our citizens. Pray
also that our USA will become, again, the world leader it once was.

Fantastic pictures. But through the dust of glamour - the change will come only, if Barack Obama, his staff and all US Americans have learned that they are PART of the world and NOT the natural leader of Mankind and nobody really needs an American missionary who is not willing to pay his part - I believe the international community will welcome the US again.
The secret of success is cooperation NOT confrontation

To #166: Maybe we need to expand our affirmative action programs so that highly intelligent under-represented minorities can have more opportunities normally reserved for wealthy influential(and not too bright) families like the Bushes. The potential of our country is limitless if we exploit our greatest natural resource - our diverse people.

Dear Mr President,
Your election to the Presidency of the United States Of America, was long in the making.January 20, 2009 marks the end of this development. You have now
entered upon phase two of the path God has Divinely appointed for you.
I believe, as I have indicated in a previous e-mail, that like Queen Esther - " Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14b) May God grant you the wisdom, knowledge, understanding and humility, with longivity for you Presidency. God bless you and your family.

It was great to see these pictures. An awesome and moving spectacle.

I am a great supporter of Obama. As I type this I happen to be wearing my Obama/Biden teeshirt. But may I respectfully request we lay off the prayers that Obama does well? If his successes can be chalked up to acts of God then it doesn't matter who is president, right? God can grant wisdom and guidance to anybody with equal ease. If Obama succeeds, please let him have the credit.
