The Inauguration of President Barack Obama
Yesterday was a historic day. On January 20th, 2009, Barack H. Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America - the first African-American ever to hold the office of U.S. Commander-in-Chief. The event was witnessed by well over one million attendees in chilly Washington D.C., and by many millions more through coverage on television and the Internet. Collected here are photographs of the event, the participants, and some of the witnesses around the world. (48 photos total)

These pictures are invaluable as they capture the world's belief that our 44th President is indeed the man for the job. President Obama is the total package. His knowledge, objectiveness and patriotism is what, not only our country needs but what the world needs to help the USA regain our place as the world's superpower. I pray for his safety and ask you to do the same. For those who do not share the majority opinion that he is the man for the job, please give him a chance and do not be persuaded by those who are haters just because.......
Americans who believe in America have spoken. The ignorence of the past have been defeated. Any sane human being should understand, We are somebody while we can breath. All human being have the right for a descent life. Proverty, inequality, injustice can't be a revelation. Human being are responsible for the safe keeping of the globe. Greed and jealousy are the cancer of humanity. We must come to reality to understand there is one God, one human race, of course 30,000 religions. Love and respect for each other is the recipe for a peaceful world. .Yes,. President Obama understands...

"Somebody said it couldn't be done, but he with a chuckle replied, "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one to say so til he tried. So he buckled right in, with a trace of a grin on his face, if he worried he hid it. And he started to sing as he tackled the thing that couldn't be done and he did it. Author unknown
Congratulations President and Mrs. Obama! You are a living testament to the meaning of the quotation above that I learned in elementary school in the early fifties segregated Washington Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama. I am so thankful that I lived long enough to see this great day in history. You will be successful if you place God first in all of your decision making. Maybe one day I will have the pleasure of meeting you in person. I pray so, if it be God's will.
Keep The Faith And By All Means Keep Your Head To SKY - Mr. President OBAMA!!!
Submitted With Love and Hope,

What are year and what a man ! May you be the leader of the free world that we need you to be.
President Obama you have my support and prayers.

Dear Barack - You and my son share the same name (almost - he is Barak) and so I guess I just had to vote for you. Kidding aside, please do not give in to Wall Street and the insurance giants. Too much of your current approach is business as usual with some regulation and supervision of the same tired financial policies. Don't give up on public medical care. Stop speaking of "health insurance" and start speaking of "health-care". I know you can't change all things at once without making political enemies, but there needs to be more backbone in your approach to finance, health-care and public sector job creation on green energy, public transportation etc. We do need a new new deal. To the prior commenter who fears that socialism will turn us all into serfs, how much more like serfs can we be than we already are under the Reagonistic regime (brought to a final head by Cheney/Bush) of all money being sucked up to the "lords of the manor". If only you really WERE a democratic socialist. How right-wing and reactionary must anyone be to believe that you are a socialist by any definition. I guess these Limbaugh-indoctrinated imbeciles don't own dictionaries. You are by any standard a "centrist" politician, sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right of that center. Very right of center
has gotten us to where we are today. Please move a hair to the left and allow some real democracy to freshen our social contract. Most of the countries in the world are capitalist (oh, we won!!! - how childish), and most of these are not democracies. There's no inherent co-relation between capitalism and democracy (see Saudi Arabia, etc). There's no inherent co-relation between socialism and dictatorship (see Allende's Chile - destroyed by the U.S., and late 1960's Czechoslovakia - destroyed by the U.S.S.R.). I have no illusions about Chavez' Venezuela, more Peronista than socialist. Please be the president you promised to be - an enlightened progressive, democratic capitalist. That means regulation, serious public sector involvement fully partnered with the private sector (rather than its handmaiden).
In Year 2004, i was talking to my friends about US having black president, and our conclusion was next 20 or 30 year.. we were proved wrong and i am happy to be wrong once. I went to your home town in kenya 4 month ago, people are very happy for you. I hope to see your name in History next to Abraham Lincoln.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL I CRIED ON THAT DAY
I just thought to look in my pics folder and I came across this link that someone sent me. Looking at your photos brought me back emotionally to this awesome day. I am still in awe of this Wonderful MAN. I ask GOD to keep him and guide him EVERYDAY.
It was the only alternative by then the man to get into the office at the expense of the poor who needed a saviour.
I hope the message posted by Anna on July 7th will reach President Obama.
We are keeping him in our prayers to make the RIGHT decisions.
God bless him and our government.
Obama is my role model in my hole life . I wish to prosper in his life . Best of luck my DEAR SIR !
I really love these photos taken place during the inaguaration. i was there with over 2 million people on my birthday and I'd rather not be any where else. These pictures are amazing. I hope to visit Obama in the white House one day, just to tell my children if I have any in the future that I experienced the best history ever.
he is one of a kind! he is just so real!
i wanna be the first asian presidet of U.S ^_^
What a glorious day for the world to see that color did not play a part in this glorious occasion. I wish people of all races would get together more often and the world would be so much better if we just care, listen to, communicate a little more with each other.
From a sociological perceptive people from all races would better understand each other if we get to know that person a little better be it their religion, lifestyle, culture. If we can all get together for one day why can't we do it more often.
God is an awesome God. I pray that God will be a Fence all around our President. I pray for his strength, wisdom and understanding as he leads this great country. I love you Mr. President and 1st Lady Michelle.
Honourable Mr President Barack Obama and wife Michelle indeed God's seal is upon you and I believe with this seal you will do wonders to unite the world through the help of Our Lord Jesus Christ. My God richly bless you with wisdom to rule. Trust in the Lord with all your heart , never give chance to satan but with the seal of God to pass through the red sea with victory.
oh how i wish that my grandfather would of been here to see this. best wishes President Obama
You bring this country hope....and a renewed meaning. God Bless you and your family. May he continue to guide you through these difficult times.
GOD IS GOOD!!!!!
Dear Mr. President,
Where is all of the money coming from that seems to be so freely distributed ?
I'm very concerned that we are passing on a tremendous debt for many generations to come.
Have you conferred with enough people about a national health-care system ?
Mr. President, be not dismay, for God is with you at ALL times, and He will not fail you. Pay no attention to the satanic critics. They too will pass away. Continue the vigil on the health reform bill. My heart and prayers are with you and the first lady. God bless.
URL I think if OTher Countries can have a Medical Plan that takes care of every one the united states of America should be able to a plan like that also.
Young Dr. King.
President Obama,
I worked deligently for you during the primary and general election and I trust your judgement. I pray that God will direct you in all of your ways and decisions concerning our great country.
Am from the Philippines. I always admire Mr. Obama, he's my idol. I will pray that God will always give him the wisdom and strength in all he is doing. May God bless him and his family, too.

Some hope and change? He's even WORSE than what he wanted to change. More of the same -- MUCH more. Not what I was hoping for.
Obama 08
It is a wonderful revisit to this site to remind me of the greatness of the American people and our system of government; the nastiness that is being undertaken by those who oppose the outcome of the election is troubling, but this wonderful pictoral statement brings our real strength back into focus. God bless our President and help us to see him through the difficult situation he has inherited.
OH ! HEAVENLY FATHER PROTECT PRES. BARACK OBAMA AND HIS FAMILY
FROM ALL HARM AND DANGER. MAKE AMERICA STRONG IN THE BELIEF OF EQUALITY FOR ALL>>This is my daily prayer. I cried with joy as I stood in the cold
in DC. Amazing I did not feel cold at all. As the song goes I didn't feel no ways tired either. The Ohio delegation was together with love for you and our nation on 1/20/09. These pictures are spectacular, and they speak billions & billions of words......
I am very grateful of Barat Obmer prisentend
Bless your sweet heart, President Obama, and stay strong as the nay-sayers and fear-mongers continue to do their work.
PRAISE THE LORD!
Dude, you're slipping. It's good to have you as President, but only if you try harder to deliver your promises. Principles are what make a President unique. Do not compromise your integrity; not only does it make you appear weak it can make you appear disingenuous and possibly evil.
Thank you for your service.
god bless you and your family
More than Wonderful!!! Quel Bonheur!!!
Dear Mr. President ,
Words can not explain joy of a boy from a town known as a tribe of the jews (Efik) in Nigeria can be made to watch the moment of great history maked by God through your humble self and your dear family.
Please Sir, look up to God only and you will not fail.
Dear President & Michelle Obama;
This is a love letter to you both and to your two lovely daughters, Malia & Sasha. It is to tell you how blessed I feel to have lived long enough to see this moment in time.
August 18th, I became 69 years old. Your election on November 4th, 2008, (on my youngest brother's birthday) and your enaugeration service on January 20th, are the best birthday presents I have ever had. (BTW my 203 year old (3/29/09) cousin is elated & proud).
Those of us born in the sixties can well appreciate this blessing that can never be erased from history; that can never be forgotten; that can only be an encouragement to all races and nationalities as a moment in time worth waiting for. We applaud the steps you took in you life as a young man that led you to be able bring the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King to life.
We thank him and others gone on like Rosa Parks, who sacrificed to help us to get to this moment in time.
My prayer is that all will join in and rejoice at this victory for ALL citizens of these United States of America. My prayer is that you will continue to be the Christian that God made you in your early twenties, that you continue to worship and praise Him. (ALWAYS FIND TIME TO SPEND WITH GOD) hE WILL DIRECT YOUR PATH. HE WILL help you make good decisions; HE WILL be your protector; HE WILL help you to stay on the right path. and, I am sure many others, will continue to pray for you in a mighty way. I pray that you will be the best President that this U.S. has ever had. Please continue to give God the glory for all that He has done, and will do as you lead this country..
Again, I love you and your lovely family and will keep you on my daily prayer list. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER MORE. AMEN!!!
My mother and grandparents were not here to see this day, but someday when my turn comes i'll tell them what a wonder man you are and what an outstanding couple you and Mrs. Obama make. I am absolutely very proud of your accomplishments. I believe this country needed a new direction a long time ago and you are the person to take us there. You have shown tremendous professionalism, great character, respect and dignity. I pray that you prove to the world that a black man knows how to make something brand new, out of something very old. With your strong woman at your side and the world behind you, YES WE CAN!!!!!
Stay prayerful and serve The Lord with all your might with all your heart and soul and he will direct your path.
I will always pray for you. Owens-Cox, TN
obama rockz
Obama's election has demonstrated the fact that despite all odds United State election remain a genuine expression of people's will. This is the time Africans need to change their orientation and pave way for elections that will be producing an authentic popular representation that will usher in a firm structure of democracy in the continent.
i could not believe it when i heard it that we are having our first african american president..i was proud of my country for coming so far with these decades of segregation..he is an amazing president and im so proud

I still shed a tear when I watch this. Fantastic photographs of a fantastic moment in history. I am blessed to be an American and we are all blessed to have this man in our top chair. Thank God.
Mr. Obama,
i do not agree with most of your beliefs, but i want you to know that
I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU. You can't take that away from me.
Today is my first time to see Obama's inauguration ceremony pictures, its really God's plan.what a crowd.
Sometimes in the push and shove of politics, in the ceaseless commentary by pundits, in the debates over the need for health care reform, in the anxiety over the economy, and the continuing paid of those who are unemployed or who no longer count as unemployed because they have given up, I forget that Barack Obama has been President for less than nine months, and that he chose to take on the Herculean task of motivating our country to live up to its promise.
These pictures reminded me of what incredible moments to be alive - to see the election and inauguration of Barack Obama and to welcome his delightful family to the White House.
Nobody promised the road would be easy, and in his inaugural address, he made it clear we would all have to work to turn things around.
Dear President Obama,
After your outstanding speech last night, September 9, 2009, I looked back at your inauguration pictures and am reminded of the thrill of that day. I and all members of my family are your fans, your admirers. The heart of your domestic program is health insurance reform. Last night you gave an excellent, rational, thoughtful, clear, but also emotional summary of your ideas on this subject. It renewed my faith that you will get this passed through the Congress. It was uplifting to see the many enthusiastic faces in the crowd; I know it will succeed including some form of the public option which we desperately need. Three weeks ago I mailed you my husband's article in our paper expressing faith in your judgment. We know you can do it, THANK YOU for your courage and determination.
God Bless America and President Obama. Thank you President Obama for restoring the American dream.
:'( i cant believe our 1st black president.im so happy!! love ya mr.barrack obama!!!!!!!
~SMILES&HUGZ~
Congratulations, Mr. Obama. You have rocked the world.
GOD had nothing to do with it.
Get a Health Insurance Bill Passed at all costs !!! This has been debated for at least 50 years and it is time for action. Health Insurance for all !!!
The bloom is off this rose... while he had a great opportunity to move to the middle and do great things, he has instead choosen to take a hard core psrtisan line to fundamentally wipe away our individuals freedoms in exchange for new government mandated entitlements and handouts. This was not the change America wanted and he has mistaken the core values of the amrican people, a desire for freedom and opportunity, not entitlements and handouts, all funded by excessive taxation. How much is enough? It is apparent no about of money can satisfy this out of control government. When interest rates return to the 15% to 20% they were under Jimmy Carter we will go bankrupt under this mountain of debt.
we are the majority now. dont let the noise machine from the 25% that hate this man for his race bring you down. fight the foxnation, support the pres. and we will get the country back for the middle class, and not the 1%, who dont need any more money.....
America is already using socialist ideas!!! Public Schools! Medicare/Medicaid! We took these ideas FROM the Soviets!
So why don't you shut up about name calling the President and learn some respect.
bongezi obama
CONGRADULATIONS, MR. PRESIDENT.

Dear President Obama and family,
1st, I'd like to congratulate you on your Presidential victory and your Nobel Peace Prize Award. My family and I traveled to Washington, DC on Jan. 20th to watch your inauguration. Sure, we were way in the back, but we didn't care! We were there!!! Four generations strong, witnessed history! Thank you for allowing my grandson to know, if he believes, he can acheive.
Through out the campaign, no matter what was happening, slow and steady was the words of the day. I know you have your work cut out for you, but if you keep God first in you life, you will succeed. We pray for you and your family always. May God continue to bless and keep you.

Im so happy that Obama became the 44th President of the United States. I think this is good because he can make a huge difference in the soceity we are living in now. I can truly say that im glad as we Americans, well most of us, has chosen to let Barack Obama be our President. Say, how bout we try something different. And we did. This is a very historical moment in the life of most americans and some it just dont mean a thing to, but to me it means alot. I pray that God BLESS him and his family, and let him make the right decisions for America. In everything THANKS be to GOD !!!!!
There is a season for all things:. God created the season, and God created man.
And the man for this season is President Obama , May God bless him, and may God bless American, I pray for him, and I pray for American. And for you that haven't came around, I pray will come around. We as a people must stand together as one people, one nation un-divided but unite under God we must stand, This is what America is all about UNITED, We can have PEACE in AMERICA. Peace starts at home, then spreads ABORAD. Lets show the other nations.
