Iran's Presidential Election
Iranians went to the voting booth today, Friday, June 12th, for their 10th presidential election since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Their decision today is largely whether to keep hard-line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in power for four more years, or to replace him with a reformist more open to loosening the country's Islamic restrictions and improving ties with the United States. Ahmadinejad's leading opponent is Mir Hossein Mousavi, a former Prime Minister of Iran. Mousavi's campaign was propelled in recent weeks by young voters using high-tech campaign tactics (over 66% of Iranians are under the age of 30). Iran's presidential elections are tightly controlled, and, once elected, the office holder has limited power, but it remains the highest position determined by popular vote. Collected here are several photos from the past few weeks in Iran. (35 photos total)

Nice pictures. The photos say all the story. This is a war bewteen Iranians and the islamic government ruled by khamenei.
It very much reminds me of the previous revolution. Shah was descent enough to leave poeple alone but khamenei does not easily let go of his rulership.
Thanks my country men and women for your pride and courage. I love you.
Thanks for the photos,it really shows the beauty of the Iranian people and their desire for change
There are beautiful women in Iran, I have never mentioned that before
Who cares? In Britain we have an unelected PM in criminal corrupt parliament
A classic case of those in glasshouses don't throw stones.
Ironic that the people of Iran dare shout for democracy. Britain take notice, people are prepared to act in Iran if democracy is not adhered to. Britain is a pathetically feeble democracy compared to Iran
@ #24 Thank you, Zio-bot Sharon Weinstein for enlightening us with your zionist propaganda brainwash.
We have seen what the "only democracy in the middle east" did to innocent women and children in gaza earlier this year.
I hope, you know where you can shove your ignorant slogans.
Greetings from Germany.
Amazing Photos...I hope they review the voting...just my personal opinion....these people should have a leader that they elected....
Woaw, Iranian women are very cute.
@ Slow Changer
Yea, they are great people! Ask any of the American hostages held for 444 days.
very good
Beautiful photos. A true manifestation of what Democracy is all about. I find it unfortunate that many people are quick to crucify Ahmadenijad while they clearly have no knowledge of the Iranian political scene. Just because Mousavi's supporters made more noise, doesn't mean there were more of them. Persians are a fierce and passionate people who don't need outside help to uphold Democracy.
They were the ones to get rid of the western-backed Shah (dictator) during their revolution, and they will be the ones to defend their democracy. Meddling from western countries serves no constructive purpose.
The Iranian people are wonderfull and deserve a true democracy. I wish you all the best of luck, and hopefully you can fight for that recount.
Maybe in the future, when the more liberal younger generation take power, we can restore peace to the world unlike the mistakes our parents made.
Re-elected, just like Bush!
Spectacular pics. Persian women look gorgeous. Society looks completely different what American media projects!!!
Most westerners have a very distorted view of Iran and Iranian culture compared to impressions of other countries in the area. It's not somewhere that's easily understood by those that haven't been there but these pictures do hint at a country that would surprise many CNN or Fox news viewers. As much as there are things about the country that would confound the average American - such as their constitutional protection of jews - and as interesting as this election has been for its demonstrations of youth activism, the unelected still hold the power.
24 Million Votes .... and still you people say that is not Democracy? whats going on in the world, God knows. At least respect to people's choice guys.
Mousavi Calims he is the president. How funny is that. He told his supporters to be happy and celebrate. that is the most hilarious thing Ive ever seen in my entire not so long life.
Learn Respect people RESPECT.
One thing should be remembered that Ahmedinejad might be very clever in politics but his vow against Pro zionist lobby is commendabele. Whenever I think about this thing he is fully innocent. Should we support somebody who is backed by zionist Israel. At the same time I am condemning some undiplomatic words from ahmedinezad about Israe. To tackle Israel he should ve more tecnical.

hello im iranian student girl at tehran we tried to win mousavi but un fortunatly he didnt now in iran is a real war after election what exciting war !!!!!!!!!!! we love all people around the world cross your hand for us
Re#6: I'm sure, dear friend, you love watching magma flow out of a volcano! but you never ever even think of nearing it! you like Ahmadinejad but NOT as a president of you own country!?! I'm sure people of Iran will be happy to know you enjoy silly conduct of this clown!
im iranian , now is sunday 14 june , now we are asking for our vote , all people are asking for their votes , ahmadi nejad is not our president , most of the people came to vote for Mr.Mir Hossein Mousavi , but they say ahmani nejad is our president . They cheated . They are liers . they are killing people who wants their Rights .
and there is no respect for the LIER.
Pls listen to us
Big cheating, we all vote for mousavi. But now ... . Please follow iran news.
When I see these beautiful girls in green my heart breaks for the hope in their eyes. As gorgeous and powerful and moving as these pictures are, I am concerned that it may be dangerous for the girls to have their pictures here. Please be careful. We don't want them to suffer any more than they have to.
The results are tampered with, there's just no way he got over 60% when there's a 85% turnout.

Great pictures, but i guess this Election Cartoon is the best:
Great Iran election cartoon http://bit.ly/2xFDpV
Athe media were tryna show that ahmedinajad wasnt even in the game this time but they were all lying ahmedinajad has the supportof the majority of iranians.
AHMEDINAJAD RULES....
however we should believe that president ahmdinezhad won the election becouse he is so popular in villages and small cities of iran.
you must not just look at tehran
Is it new war now? No... or...
the whole election was a scam. there will be no democracy, freedom, change, or advancement in iran until Ahmedinejad and the Ayaytollah are knocked out of power. the iranian people and especially the youth need to stand up for themselves now.
Stand up Iran people, stand up. supporters from PRC.
“An woman arrives at...” Why “an” instead of “a”?
Like said, these girlss are hawwwwtttiesss. Mmm
But yes Ahmedinejad prob. cheated, happens all the time in middle eastern countries, happened in Egypt last year, no real democracy anywhere. If Iran wants change, they need to take Ahmedinejad and the "leader" ayaytollah out of power and install a new system.
Go for change!
Ps. hotties welcome this way.
I , as an Iranian guy, think that we(iranians) must not protest and hurt our country so that there are many people in Iran who really love Ahmadinezhad .
many of them are in my city (Shiraz)
people all around the world help us to be heard.we (people )of this country hate our government.we have been made isolated by our f*cking governemnt.
they are not our choice, they just cheat and lie to everyone, even to their people.:(
islamic republic is loved for most population of iran
yes there are some people here(iran) that think there isn't freedom in iran like aida but they should know that the most democratic country in the middle east is IRAN
LISTEN TO THE FACT
People have short memory!!! Do you know what would happen to all these beautiful girls who are protesting on the streets if they were in Mousavi's time back then (when Mousavi was in power)?
They would be arrested and beaten and put in jails... DO NOT FORGET THOSE DAYS...
This is the best freedom people got for that last 30 years. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Ahmadinejad is good, but I'm saying COMPARE these two. Did people have more freedom when Mousavi was in power, or now??
DO NOT FORGET THE PAST!!! DO YOU REALLY TRUST MOUSAVI?? YOU THINK HE WILL DO WHAT EVER HE SAYS?? DID YOU FORGET THE CORRUPTION BACK THEN??
Don't get me wrong, we have corruption now in Iran, but the things they did back then were a lot worse than now...
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THE PAST, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STUDENTS AND OTHERS...
you are wrong soroush ,i think the most democratic country in the middle east is turkey not iran
Ahmadi nejad grabbed the election by a second verdict (hokme hokumati)of supreme leader khamenei not iranian votes
this isnt election but defraud and cheating ,there is a lot of reasons
even mousavi did'nt gain the majority vote in his home land !!!!u know the tork people that they are so prejudice about torkish nationality
i am a guilan man ai vote 4 mousavi ,i am sure he is real and legal president of iran
The speed of the vote count suggests fraud, and my perception of the youth of Iran and their political desires(and they are a young country, 66% are under 35 years old) also suggest that the Iranians got ripped off, but who knows. As a curious american, I am well aware that our government colors what we see of the world, particularly that country.
To the Iranian people: Many Americans know that the young men and women of Iran are our friends, but want our government to keep out of Iran's affairs.
Good luck. You are a gracious and beautiful people.
I love the cleric combing his beard with the pinky ring! he awesome!!! I have to laugh at the ignorant people on here who find someway to mention George Bush's name every chance they get, you are the same stupid people that think this election for one matters or would result in a different plan for IRAN. Kudos to those who posses intelligence( probably because you are republican) and know who runs IRAN.
Go see the Stoning of Soraya M.
Democracy and Theocracy mix like oil and water. God Bless America and the B-1 Bomber!
The man in #26 is not a cleric. clergymen wear simple white or black clothes on their head not plaid as this man. He is probably from a countryside with such a costume.
I live in iran and I know that there is freedom in Iran. last week(before the election) we went to Chamran Street every night and we supported Mousvi.
but now supporters of Mousavi shouldn't forget that in those days supportes of Ahmadinejad were a lot too.
most of ahmadinejadians were old and lived in villages of Iran.
they don't use internet and you don't hear their voices supporting ahmadinezhad
beautiful girls...
there is a huge cheating in iran election.people say this:
we write mosavi but they read ahmadi
definitely the hottest women i'v seen recently. I'm going no matter who's elected!
Wow, Iranian women are beautiful!
Beautiful women all around the world...sorry to say this, but YOU noticing such pretty women NOW is kinda ignorant! that means you live in a prejudice world thinking under that scarf is nothing worth while :) surprise, surprise!!!!
I wish you'll have your reforms...no tradition should denie prosperity and happiness of it's people! Reforms must happen! I'm comming from Bosnia
and i'd like to thing that a country like Iran can change...then there is a small
possibility that i can look forward for a new start here too!
Good luck!
Screw This Election ........
Paris Hilton was also voting?
See Pic 33
For the rest.... beautiful pictures
tnx
hi
i'm iranian , now is sunday 15 june , now we are asking for our vote , all people are asking for their votes , ahmadi nejad is not our president , most of the people came to vote for Mr.Mir Hossein Mousavi , but they say ahmani nejad is our president . They cheated . They are liers . they are killing people who wants their Rights .
our leader is dictator, beacause he dosn't regard to our votes.
Pls listen to us plz help to us
Nice photos, Thanks!
I see that Iran is a arabic democratic country, but USA & Israel with western "democratic" media's want make us to believe in axis of Evil, headed by villain-Ahmadinejad.
And yet, it turns out, Iran does not eat Jewish babies for breakfast. =)
Shite - I missed the first line of that Thomas Pain quotation: "Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph"
Obama and friends need to man up and call the iranian election suspect. Face it crazy boy is gonna win because the clerics want him to win. They want the bomb.
The least Obama can do is spoil the stew by encouraging those who lost to get pissed, to take action. They will be crushed and many will die but at least Iran will be called out for the beast it is. Its citizens will see the true face of their country.
Its time for Obama to play politics in the brutal hardball way he did with Palin and others, destroy your competitor, your enemy and if you can get others to do it for you (Irans Media & intellectuals) then do so. He and his media did not shy away from destroying Palin or her children so why the kid gloves on crazy 'wipe israel off the face of the map" guy. Barack Hussein Obama needs to show us the Hussein in his name is meaningless and now is the time.
1st of all Iran is not an arabic country; it's Persian !
2nd of all Iranian girl do appreciate your greetings over their beauty
3rd of all while you are enjoying watching your so called (!) hot girls, they are having their lives on the line to get back what belongs to them
4th of all nobody accepts Ahmadinejad as the president of Iran; Iran is not still out of human!
5th of all Iranian people have never had any problem with other countries or races or religions of the world, Iranians' so called leaders talk to you not Iranians
6th of all to all freedon lovers: Iran will be free soon...this time without GODs!
This may well be more important than the election of Obama in the history of the information class war.
Next stop, China.

hi,im an iranian.me and all my family and all of my friends vote for mr.mir hossein mousavi.but this is the big question.
where are our votes?
even they didnt let us to protest.
mass murder continues on the streets of Tehran and the media CANNOT CAPTURE IT there are reports of 12 students, 1 adult, and many many more being killed and these are only confirmed reports
hundreds are taken to Evin superprison, and will probably be all tortured to death or be brain-washed so they wont recall their own names
we're NOT dealing with a normal dictator, this is a MONSTER, they have done WHATEVER it takes to stay in power, in the name of religion, honesty, faith, and any other sacred thing, they have killed, tortured, manipulated, forced, and RULED that country for 30 YEARS!
WAKE UPP
Thank you....
it is g8 to see that persian people r so crazy about democracy. they want to bring democracy in iran. after reading all the comments i got to kw that anyway election brings happiness to iran people.
i love simple iran people bcos they r friend of india.

Jerusalem, Israel
Hi Dear Friends,
I, as an Iranian, appriciate you for your kindly comments, thank you all. You saw those pix before and after election and you saw in what evil hands we are entrapped. We need your support demonstration. We need your help to get ride of The Great Satans "Mahmood Ahmadinejad and his supporters" to make better country for oureslves and bring the peace to Middle East region and all of the world. Help us to bring down these little but dangreous evils. Thank You all again but remember we need your supports in your streets!
This is for Soroosh from Shiraz,
Hey buddy you need to read so much to understand the concept of Democracy, maybe you should go to the streets in these days to see what democracy means in Iran or maybe you received your qouta from oil dollars (what evil Ahmadinejad promised in his election campaign in 4 years ago). Perhaps for you democracy means stick over head of people or to burn students dormitory. To all friends and real supporters of democracy, I appologize for Soroosh comment. You must know this is not general opinion of Iranian people.
Not sure what God (comment 39) is on about... the US's DI is 8.22, whereas Iran's is 2.83. Iran isn't even a democracy: it's a fully-fledged dictatorship, hiding under a thin veil of democracy - just like Cuba, China or Afghanistan - so as to avoid international criticism and provide false justifications for the regime's authority. Iran is run by an Imam appointed by a council of Islamic scholars, who gets to chose not only who's allowed to run for the election, but also - it now seems - who wins it. Even if the recount awards the presidency to another candidate, it'll still be a victory for the Islamic regime: this election was just about picking which of the Ayatollah's four favourite candidates is going to pretend to represent the people this time round.
where is my VOTE..?
"I hate Ahmadi nejad.he is a liar."
I’m speaking to Persian people: You must not trust western countries, so that they never helped other countries. IN PERSIAN LANGUAGE : ” lazem nist amricaee ke hezaran hezar nafar ra dar aragh va afghanestan mikoshad delash be khatere naboode azadie bayan dar iran besoozad .”
Nobody wants ahmadi nejad...he is a liar and finally a loser..only poor and foolish people voted him..
the fist subject that ahmadineja begins to talk are gay and lesbians!everywere.i'm 11 years old girl in tehran and first time i heard this words from his mouth.wwe all hate this devil.
i know why people like ahmadinejad don't come to this website.because even they don't knwo what is computer or internet or english they are poor people who just want money .ahmadinjad bought their vote in counrty sides.he gave them money.
thank u.
Don’t tell me you are wrong. I don’t agree on hurting people. I am just saying that people in the villages chose Ahmadinezhad because Ahmadinejad gave them maney( sahame edalat).
I myself support Mousavi but I believe that supporters of Ahmadi are a lot too and in Iran people in villages don’t usually use internet So you cannot hear their voices.
Be aware people of Iran(PERSIA)
Hey,
My name is Meital and im from Israel.
I want to sand my love to the people in Iran.
The photos are extremely hard to watch. you deserve better leader, better life, better future, and the most importent... peace with Israel.
See you all next year in Jerusalem.
Iranian women are beautiful.
Please let everybody knows where is HUMAN RIGHTS that all the world specially USA were concerned about during the Shah's Regime in Iran?
Nothing will get better in Iran as long aa we have arabs running the cuntry. and their palestinian gaurds roaming the cities. people wake up and get the rid of Islam and their arab inforcers from Iran and then we can start building the country once again.
Dear Boston Team, thank you for the photos. but I think that your photos are being finish. please, please, keep in touch with Iran happenings and find a way to break the forbidency of forign reporters in Iran. Please reflect our voice and this dictatory to the ears of the democratic world. Please support us.
Extremely beautiful faces of persian girls!
Give them FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!
The US media seldom gives us the the real story about other countries but just surface propaganda. The pictures are a unique glimpse for us on the outside of Iran to see real people; to see the joy and excitement touches our hearts. Perhaps the comments on how beautiful Iranian women are, are not quite appropriate in this context. If people were demonstrating in American against election fraud, would we appreciate comments about how beautiful the women or men are? Please remember this is not a National Geographic presentation but rather images of a people standing up for democracy, their future and who are now facing persecution and death. Peace and courage to the Iranian people. DemocracyNow! NowNowand all!
MUSAVI IS AZERI! the propblem is that farsi gouvermant doesn't respect Azeri language which is 40% of iran ( iran says 30 % ) FREEDOM FOR 30 MILJION AZEIR TURKS!/
and musavi is also Azeri!!! and thats why farsi gouvermant attacks them!
but no1 says this not even CNN !
THESE PEOPLE ARE AZERIS!
The Ayatollas forced Iran back for 1400 years. Religion is the root of all corruption. Iran's religion was not Islam until it was invaded by a bunch of illiterate Arabs. Arabs don't like Iranians because we are the only nation in the world that was invaded by those idiots and we managed to maintain our language and identity. Now these arrogant Ayatollahs are trying to arabatize the beautiful land of Iran.It does not matter who wins this disputed election. the Ayatollahs will make sure the one who is closer to a religious zealot will win the election.
Some day my beautiful country will once again rule over those Arabs whe invaded my country 1400 years ago and took our anciant faith away from us.Some of the people in some of the so-called Arab countries are stupid to call themselves Arabs. A good example is Egypt.
Persian girls are good-looking!!!
Iranian people they need better life , they beautiful ,nice and smart people .Good luck
Thank you very much for such a beautiful pictures. I hope, that we will be able to clear this criminal regime as soon as possible. They must go to hell or they muss go back to their town (ghom) and stay there for ever.
To comment 23, 11 year old Sareh, you are a very intelligent 11 year old who knows about politics and can speak good english. I wish you all the best, hope you can get your wish of democracy!
The West with the leadership of the United States and the nagging of the Zionists are trying very hard to stop Iran from Getting the A. bomb. Iran claims that she's not making the Bomb. Some westerners think that Moosavi will negotiate with the west in favor of stopping the nuclear program.
As a proud Iranian living in the U.S. I am not in favor of any Iranian presidential candidate who will stop the nuclear program under pressure from the U.S.
If the nuclear program ends with making the A. bomb so be it. The U.S., the country of the Zionists, France, United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Russia, and The Communist China has it. Why not Iran ? The whole world knows that the majority of Arab countries helped Iraq against Iran in the 8-year old war which started by Iraq with the United States' encouragement. If Iran had the BOMB, may be Saddom would have thought twice before attacking Iran.
The U.S. is only country in the world that has dropped the A. bomb not once but twice. As a result hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese civilians were killed, maimed, handicapped and many of them actually died gradually which was very torturous. The United States has no business to tell Iran to stop making the BOMB. Long live the Iranian president (whoever that maybe) who will give us the dignity of being a member of the A.Club.
Notice: I refered to Iran's number one enemy as, "The country of the Zionists" I'm sure you know which country I'm talking about. I'm talking about the one whose leaders with the help of the United States have more than 50 years occupied the land of Palestain.
Just in case that there are still people out there who think that the elections in Iran determine who the president of Iran is, THINK AGAIN.
Four years ago hardly anybody had ever heard of Ahmadinezhad. All of a sudden, out of no where, he became a presidential candidate and supposedly won. He won nothing!! The presidency was handed to him in a silver platter and overnight he became the president!! Ayatollah kHAMENEI wanted him to be his puppet and he did.
There's one compliment that I would like to give Mr. Ahmadinezhad: He did not steal BILLIONS of dollars like RAFSANJANI did.
I agree that Ahmadi is an honest man, but Iran needs a man like MOSSADEGH (who was overthrown by the CIA.). Just being honest is not enough to run a country. Long live Iran. Death to Israel who is responsible for the invasion of iRAQ by the U.S. causing the death of more than 1000,000 innocent Iraqi civilians.
There are people who ask why is Israel responsible for the invasion. The answer is easy. Saddom was paying $25,000 to the families of the person who committed an act of suicide bombing against the Zionists. After Saddom was gone, the suicide bombing came to a halt. American soldiers in Iraq are being killed not for supposedly "freedom and democracy" as the U.S. claims. American Soldiers are getting killed for the security of the Zionists.
Good and affective ... ! Hope the World change tis Vision to Iran after this election and protests against cheating of Coup d'Etat government of Ahmadinijad. Iranian new generation need not and don't ask Nuclear Weapon, only attend to Democracy, Civil Equality and Peace.
this the right of nation of iran to save the islam and public of iran world
If you really think Israël is responsible for the US invading Iraq, then Ahmadinejehad did his work very, very well.
Judging from the images we have seen these last years we now understand better then most Iranians that your own government is a bigger threat to you and us then Israel ever will be.
i see a beautiful people who are asking to be heard. I hear them.
Why are not the protesters armed...with knives, bombs, other weapons and why are they not protected by armor and other gear? Who is leading them? If they have no leader and are disorganized, they will fail. I, an American, believe in their rights to protest and to select their own leaders.
i am half persian i have never been but i know it is a butiful country. i am 12 i believe we should be free y do this it is not right wher is there votes? in these pictures it shows we want change...plz plz let the pplz votes be heard and counted re vote and believe u might think thhis is sily coming from a 1year old but it is not it is the truth thankyou in god we trust.
Interesting take on the election. See Video: Iran Election Questions: Noam Chomsky's Speculation
http://www.tinyurl.com/IranElectionSpeculation
Nicely done. I enjoyed the photos and nip[its. Now all we need is a solution.
Beautiful pictures!!..I admire this people who fight against corrupted politicians. They want to choose, and they are right. Because people have the power.
They are an example for other countries, and they should be an example above all for Italians: they let corruption run, they don't care.
Love and peace

Every one should remember humanitarian, we shouldn't kill each other and harm each other. Just try to peace. That's what i want to tell everyone. Don't you think peacful life will make you safe and comfortable? Please do not creat any wars in the world.
Hey reza rajabi! There were fare less innocents in Japan than you think. When the U.S. finally stepped on Japanese soil, they found that hundreds of thousands of "civilian" homes had weapons store-housed, mainly suicide-type bombs. They saw that the Japanese were planning to defend the country or die trying, which would have meant millions of lives on both sides, not just one. Also, the Japanese government was killing millions of civilians in Oriental Asia. The Fat Man and the Little Boy were dropped for a reason. You should research before you talk.
I wish I was with you in Iran!!
I love Iranian girls it's good time for fucking Iranian girls.
