President Obama's first 167 days

U.S. President Barack Obama has now been in office for 167 days, and it's time for a look back. Why 167 days? Why not - it's just as arbitrary a number as the usual "100 days". In that time, President Obama has contended with stimulating the U.S. economy, reshaping U.S. policy abroad, and starting work on domestic issues such as health care reform. As he and his family arrive in Moscow today for an official visit, find here a look back at some of the first 167 days of the Obama administration. (38 photos total)

This kind of Politian doesn’t come along very often, he has such a great way with the people that you can relate to, its almost like he could be just another guy off the street. I can’t ever remember ever seeing another Politian who is so relaxed and down to earth.

Barack Obama is a legend!

I love how like 30 people who commented here just used this to voice their opinions on Obama. To that I say, they shouldn't be using a comment box as a soap box.

I love me some Obama. I think it's too early to say if he's doing a good or bad job since it hasn't been even a year in office, but I have faith his heart is in the right place and he's a good dude.

#10- Wonder why he is the only one not saluting? Is it because he does not know how or is it just that he will not honor the memorial he is at? Most disguisting thing I have ever seen that is supposed to be president of the USA.

These fantastic photos are like a mini-course in all aspects of great photography, except I think #29 should have been selectively color corrected to adjust for the different color temperatures of the lighting. Though I do understand why Haraz Gabari may have been reluctant to do this extra manipulation.
Also, is it just me or does the animatronics Obama have a hint of G.W.Bush in the eyes?

Maybe the reason he's not saluting in #10 is that another country's flag is on display. Should he salute every time someone rolls out the French flag? Sheesh, haters.

Most of the comments here are gushing over SUPERFICIAL APPEARANCES! As if the way the man LOOKS is all that is needed to assign greatness to him. As if the way he makes you FEEL is reason to believe he has the ability to lead this country out of the mess it's in. As long as people who can vote insist on acting like star-struck 12 year olds at their first rock concert this country is in real trouble.

Most of you are fawning idiots. Any and all of the same exact photos could/were taken of Bush (I'm not a fan of either man as president) but its all about who is taking the photos and the editors who decided to put it in their periodicals/newspapers/etc and what angle they are presented. The idolatry going on by the press should be alarming no matter what side of the aisle one falls - this is scary.

I wondered when he'd make it to the Hall of Presidents, and how his replicated self would look. Not well, I have to say. This animatronic Obama is rather scary, and seems as though the president is recovering from a long illness. But look at the dais, and you can see that Disney hasn't had the opportunity to get much practice.

Fred (#141), Pete is right. Why would he salute? He is not in uniform. I would assume he is like every other civilian (one of the great things of our government organization is that the Commander-in-Chief is a civilian) and has his hand over his heart.

Well, I guess he isn't doing bad at all after 167 days...
May I remind you all people: The president is only the ELECTED BODY who stands for / is the spokesman for a whole government?
This man does what he can and more, but he can't do it all by himself.
Isn't that just what he said when he entered the oval room?
The whole American Apparatchik (excuse me for the Russian word) has to back him and not only with words.

I love this country and I am proud of being an American. I can't say I am proud of our president. He just seems to lie better than bush did. I know I'll be hated for saying any of this but hey that's your freedom and mine. Just because I don't approve of the man I don't want him to fail. I just hate how democrats say they are for the working class when actualy we are being hit the hardest. Energy tax , property tax , hell even cigarettes. Your right well cigarettes only affect the smokers , oh and the employees , and the stores . Then when all of the smokers quit or die then what will be taxed next? Say they actualy do tax the rich more ok so then they just fire you and shut the company down then move to another country on a nice beach and retire and love life while your jobless possibly homeless since unemployment benefits will be gone. Oh well at least our president looks good and has a blackberry , myspace and a facebook page while he's ruining us. As for the guy in canada saying that Obama shares the value and morales like they do. Thats not a good thing they are pompass and useless they are good for entertainment nothing else. It sickens me to hear people tear america down and half the time it's Americans doing it. It's just like people fighting about immigration I mean you always hear well america was founded by imigrants. Cool but isn't it time to realize we have a culture now we speak english we like hot dogs baseball and football . We Have a culture we have something to share with the rest of the world but everyone wants to change us. Why. I dont go to columbia and get pissed because everyone is speaking spanish that would be horrible yet people come here and all of a sudden we have to push 1 to talk to someone in english. Its great to learn other cultures but it sucks when you have to lose your own in the process!!!!!!!!!!

Barack Obama looks like a person who is excellent at 'photo-opportunities'; unfortunately I do not belive he knows how to manage America and it's 14.2 Trillion dollar economy, or the heritage that he has been put in charge of.
FWMTS (forgot what made them successful). If you track the growth and the amazing way America has been blessed by the God of the Bible---you will see a nation that really should not be this big or this powerful! But is has been so far. Will Americans believe that we got here without God's blessing? Quite naive. Americans -- we need to get back the the Holy Scriptures and the information in it.

#157: i dont like baseball or football, am i not an american? to say we all like the same stuff and thats what makes us a cultured people is silly and sorta insane, take a step back and think before you type. and the rich are ALWAYS the last to get taxed, because they have the power and they dont want to be taxed, simple as that. gotta tax something though, the place needs cash, so cigarettes work. wait until they start taxing air and water, then bitch and moan.

#158: no, we dont need the scriptures, this is real life. we got here(where we are today) with money and bullets.

I was so touched by #30......and am doubly pleased that America yanked itself away from Faux News and FaceBook long enough to think seriously about last November's election. This president has inherited the biggest mess any US leader ever had to face, and he's addressing the problems in order of priority.... worrying about the war his predecessor started (and certainly didn't finish), which put the country into a deep recession... these complainers need to get off their duffs and start working to improve the situation in their own backyards, and realize that taxes are the dues one pays to be a member (citizen) of this great nation!!

Hi heerakharel

good question. I don't think, President Obama will respond to you. Let me try: The USA is not the paradise, in other words, not perfect. It will never be perfect because it is organized by human beings. No human being, no organization of human beings will ever be perfect. We only can minimize the unjustice in our daily lives. I strongly believe, President Obama is the best person at this time in history to combat all the "unfinished business" to the best of all citizens of this great country. Will he get everything right? Why should he, he is only a human being! But as the criticism of all the people "of old" shows, he is on the right track. Rome wasn't built in one day. The programs he started will not show results in "one day". It will take time.

Obama deserves the best from America and i donot agree with comments from Carolyn typical American attitude, which can take one no where but to hopeless point. Rise oh Americans and look at the strong faith hope and trust this guy brings for you. None of the other presidents did so far except for John Kennedy but the problem is such good souls are either killed or dumped for selfish motives where people expect miracles to take place in a short span.
Remember the Genesis 12:1-2.where god spoke to Abraham about his promise. This will come true and everything will be alright just dont give up so soon.

For those who say this president has gotten us into a financial mess about trillion dollar debt, let me ask all the arm char quarterbacks. What would you have done?? Would you rather that your country go into a financial meltdown and your great job you currently have lost as well and on poverty and keep sliding into further financial chaos?? I mean come on guys wake up. He or any other president have no choice put to pump up the chaos created by greed.

This is a never ending debate. You are always going to find this similar to the abortion issues. No matter what there will be 2 sides of intense rivalry and there never will be a unanimous choice no matter who the president. At least this guy is better than Bush. Dear "Anti Obama" Americans....
You should be proud having (at last) a President who is so much loved and admired from the globe.
You should be proud having a President who places America to the international leadership and gives Globalization a good chance to survive successfully.

After his first 167 days the world feels so much better with B. H. Obama in the White House. Not because he is “adorable” or…photogenic. But because he is a man of vision for the 21st century and he slowly, gradually, opens the gates of Hunan Kinds future.

A U.S. Army Reserve major from Florida scheduled to report for deployment to Afghanistan within days has had his military orders revoked after arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.

His attorney, Orly Taitz, confirmed to WND the military has rescinded his impending deployment orders.

"We won! We won before we even arrived," she said with excitement. "It means that the military has nothing to show for Obama. It means that the military has directly responded by saying Obama is illegitimate – and they cannot fight it. Therefore, they are revoking the order!"

She continued, "They just said, 'Order revoked.' No explanation. No reasons – just revoked."

No man alone solve all the problems of a country. Obama is a milestone for U.S. policy. In a democracy everyone has their role to change society to make it more rational and balanced from the moral and social.

"of the 167 days... how many days was he actually working in the oval office."
Better question yet would be how many days was he actually in the oval office? Most of the time he was jetting around the world having a good time and making a ass of his self.

Obama is not a great man. Look at his record and his history. He is terrible president with approval ratings dropping. Obama's election was a bad thing for America. I can't wait until he is out of office for good.

Would you keep him and promise not to send him back if we take up a collection and send him to you?

It is with regret that most of the sour grapes come from the Republican Party who has shown its true self by not backing the now president of the United States. This man has done more in the first 167 days of office than most presidents have considered to do. It is no wonder that he is getting flack because no one else wanted the office (really). It amazes me that I have heard so much about what they would have done rather than what they had a chance to do in the last 8 years. A genuine President Barrack Obama is. Yeah, I'm proud to be an American.

I wish he could be our President in Belgium.
Hmm? Oh wait a minute!
We have a King since we are a monarchy.
KING IT IS THEN!
Send him on an airforce aircraft. ASAP...

I agree with #120 - people are able to govern themselves. I have written to the White House just about every day since my son is in Afghanistan, with no real answer--just form letters. I still believe it's time the masses rule via computer input, rather than a handful of politicians rule--also, seeing more and more homeless and helping feed 1,500 kids, I still believe in 2 more items in our Bill of Rights--food and shelter. Obama looks great and sounds great, but I'm still not sure he represents anything but what he thinks is a great government which is still unattached to the people they are supposedly representing.

Shush qwertyuiop > I don't see where I spelled definitely wrong but it is possible, I will admit I'm not very good at typing. At least I did not say that "I HAVE VISITED ALL 57 STATES" , like some dummy did.

Picture 28 shows such a natural Obama with Bo, a good run for all! I happen to enjoy a politician who tries to be just himself in such a fish bowl. His is such an uphill battle with all the negative and even raceist opponents.

I love them all, I refuse to have a favorite, he is awesome. He is so humble and oh how I love Obama, because he first loved me. Living before was such a mundane repetitive nightmare , now that I have Obama in my life everything has changed. Obama, president for life, and president for living. I love 16, with his eyes closed, he is so efficient, imagine, taking a nap before his radio address, is there nothing this man cannot do. I love Obama, and now, I love living, Obama for life, Obama president for life. Yeah! Go Obama! Hope! Change! Yes we can! Yes, yeah, yes, Obama!

President of the world, that is what I say, how about it fellow Americans? I know that it would be a tremendous sacrifice for the United States. But try to put aside your selfishness and allow him to serve humanity instead of such a small portion of it. This man, no, this deity, if I may be so bold, was sent here to save us from destroying ourselves. Hurry, before it is too late, elected him King of the World. I have such little hope for our future, if you people are serious, you need to grow up and stop depending on a politician to better your situations. Take some initiative and stop blaming everyone else for your failures, that's life, get up, brush yourself off, and try again. Pathetic people of America, wake up before it is too late, there will be nothing left to wake up to.
