Ramadan 2009

In Muslim nations and regions around the globe, this is the first week of the holy month of Ramadan, a time for followers to abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual activity during the day, breaking their fast each sunset, with traditional meals and sweets. During this time, Muslims are also encouraged to read the entire Quran, to give freely to those in need, and strengthen their ties to God through prayer. The goal of the fast is to teach humility, patience and sacrifice, and to ask forgiveness, practice self-restraint, and pray for guidance in the future. This year, Ramadan will continue until Saturday, September 19th. (39 photos total)

A/A The fact people are about to understand little bit what important of this month even those are not Muslims I have seen there comments into this post. Hopefully it will become more popular for those who are not believe or those who translate the muslim "religion" into outlaw situation without any reasonable ground at perfect activity and worship. But I will pray for God to make them aware the reality because they don't if they do they will never criticize this golden opportunity in short time in our life at this world. Cause no one could exist for a second for God punishment. I will advise Muslims brother this month we don't have to take anything for granted cause is the only part I believe it will take me into good place forever, for my Calculation if you perform once worship at Ramadan your will get 70 mark, Can you imagine that! please do as much as you can there's no doubt about that you will find your mark at the end of the day.

Fantastic Pictures and proud to be a Muslim. Thanks to those who've taken the shots. Ramadan gone.....but who Knows ALLAH [SWT] forgive us or not? Prophet Muhammad [SW] said, "he/ she is the most unlucky who doesn't utilize Ramadan properly" --- I'm the one who only fasts and recite QURAAN few days without TARIBH due to work-load. Please pray for all the muslims on this earth who're alive now and past as well that, may ALLAH forgive us. Who knows it might be the last Ramadan for anyone of us??? ALLAH please forgive us and need your 'Rahmat' in rest of our life.....

@1472 Against double standards
You guys need to make up your mind - is a child wearing blinkers which do not allow peripheral vision a matter of religion or culture?

You say its natural for a child to follow her mothers. Little girls imitate their mothers by wearing high heels... Should they be allowed to wear high heels everyday as "a matter of choice"?

I don't see seven year old nuns, and a boys skull cap whether he is a muslim or a jew does nothing to hamper his movement. Why compare?

I really don't care on what adult women choose to wear - though I find those who wear short dresses with low necklines and those who wear hijabs equally concerned with their looks. As if the whole world is waiting to be seduced! But that is their choice and only my opinion.

There is no logic in the world to condone little girls being made to put up with this. I've seen school uniforms which dictate these scarves! Next you'll say child labourers have a right to break stones for a living. Little children and their rights esp when something is en masse is going to be commented on by the world.

As I said, don't defend the indefensible. And "defenders of the faith" like you need a training in logic.

Little girls do not need to wear hijab till they attain maturity. That is after they start having periods. That is certainly not 7years.In the pictures shown here-- they are wearing it either because they will pray or thay just want to imitate thier mother in this special occasion. For both boys ,girls and thier parents this is a special month. Even my 2 son used to wear these dresses instead of Jeans and T shirt. Its fun!
