China celebrates 60 years

China formally kicked off its mass celebrations of 60 years of communist rule with a 60-gun salute that rung out across Beijing's historic Tiananmen Square earlier today. Hundreds of thousands of participants marched past Tiananmen Square in costume or uniform, with floats and dancers mingling with soldiers and military hardware. Collected here are photographs of the once-in-a-decade National Day parade in Beijing, and of others commemorating the anniversary elsewhere. (39 photos total)

What picture I've got from all comments at this page? When those westerners (most Americans) use simple labels, labels they have leant from their poor education and heard from their biased media to interpret and demonize China, Chinese are able to use English, not their native language, and undeniable facts and historic evidences to give their viewpoints! Who are really brainwashed? Clearly these anti-China anti-Chinese biased folks are! Who are better educated and have much better critical thinking skills? The answer is also very clear. Chinese and non-Chinese who have been living in China for long time! With its ugly colonial history and the bullish and evil things they're still doing in the world, the west, main NATO/white nations do not have ANY moral credibility to preach "human rights" to Chinese and other peace-loving people in non-white nations!

Amazing photos which show how much can disciplined human beings achieve!
These photos also show how far China has come along the path of progress in 60 years.
I am sure the Chinese political leaders are quite satisfied with the country's military capacity and econmic progress. The ultimate challenge lies in how each and every country can contibute towards the human health and conquer the terrible diseases like cancer, AIDS, H1N1 etc. The race to defeat human suffering should be the top priority for each country, including CHina.

China's emergence as a strong economic, and virtually peaceful and harmonious society over the last three decades has attracted a great deal of attention from around the world, and has prompted political scientists in the West to look to China for solutions to their social and economic problems. Ideologically, China has evolved through years of painful trial-and-error struggle to finally establish a system that reflects the true meaning of Communism which is community-ism.

Chinese communism or community-ism is a political ideology to serve people on a collective basis. As a philosophy, it instills the virtue of selflessness for the benefit of common good, consistent with the timeless Confucius philosophy. As a system of government, it serves the masses to achieve harmony, equitability, and cohesiveness.

Deng Xiao-ping opened up China to the world, creating a Chinese-style 'market economy' with a balance of regulation and encouragement by the government to achieve maximum growth and prosperity. In short, China is neither a totalitarian state like the former Soviet Union nor a totally liberal state like the US.

The economic phenomenon has helped to strengthen Community-ism ideals. As a result, China, in a short time, has created a socio-economic miracle the world has come to admire.

First of all, to 1454, you say :

3. Ever since the end of WII, China has been involved in several wars but even with blood shed and major victory we took no territory from other country or have soldiers stationed on forgein soil.

How about Tibet?

But all this arguing is useless. The real problem doesn't lies in China, the USA or the corporations. It lies within human nature. And unless every human on earth understand this, we are doomed to destroy ourself anyway.

So go on. Keep fighting between each other. Speak but never listen. It won't matter anyway. We will kill ourself fast enough. We might even drag the entire earth with us.

As for me, I'll enjoy the beauties that are still remaining on this world while we still have them, and try to preserve them for my kids, before it all disapear, leaving us with nothing more than the foul taste of guilt in our mouth and the deep feeling that we shouldn'T have wasted so much time, energy and ressources trying to see who has the best and bigger gun, who live the best life.

Every system is corrupted no matter where you are. Every human is corrupted no matter who you are. The only choice you really have, the only thing that really matters in the end, is what will you do?

#1481, you asked

"How about Tibet?"

I have heard so many people asking the same question over and over. Now I really wish any of you could show me any evidence that Tibet had ever claimed as an independent nation, and got acknowledged by most countries in the world before 1949.

Could you?

Without knowing basic facts about Tibet, but still keep asking such stupid question, you are showing to the world what brainwashed really is.

Posted by DOO November 3, 09 04:55 PM

After reading some of your comments about Tibet, seems lots of your guys just too lazy to check the facts. I did some search in Internet, here what are reported:

1. About Tibet: China has had control over Tibet since the Yuan Dynasty in1271, it brought by Mongol Empire when Mongol conquered China. After overthrown by Ming Dynasty in1369, most of land brought by the Mongol Empire remained control by China.
2. Manzhouguo: (Manzhouli) the whole northeastern part of China, outside of Great Wall, was brought by Great Qing 1644–1912 when it conquered China.

In Chinese history, there are two times that China were invaded and ruled by foreigners: they are Mongol Empire and Manzhou Empire (Qing Dynasty). Both Empires brought their own lands to China, most of the territories brought by them are remained controlling by China today. Not only those conquers like the Chinese cultures, but ruled China using Chinese culture, this is why even when they were overthrown by new comers, they became minority, still remaining in China.

Based those historic facts, some historian suggested that there would be no Japan anymore today if USA did not bomb Japan with atomic bombs in 1945. Since Japanese are so fallen in love with Chinese culture, after 70 or 80 years of ruling in China since 1930s, there will be big mix with more Chinese elements than his own. Once a new party with Chinese as majority own the election, everything will back Chinese dominance as did in Yuan and Qing dynasty. In this regards, US saved Japan as a sovereign country.

After typed so many words here, I hope those idiots who think the military might is only way to conquer other countries should wake up. No, Stupid, it the "CULTURE" made all those differences.

To 1481: Your argument exactly shows how people's mind can be twisted (or washed) by media.

I'm sorry to tell you that you are made to believe that Tibet was a kind of independent paradise before the Chinese so-called "invasion". Am I right on this?

What you media conveniently forget is as the following:
1. Most area of Tibet is at very high altitude hence uninhabitable. People there live a very harsh life, I'm sure most of you people who make it a paradise won't stand living there for more than a week.
2. Tibet was a caesaropapism heocratic Regime before 1949 where your holy Dalai Lama peel live children's skin for his birthday celebration and the monks and nobles who consistute less than 5% of population took possesion of most of the wealth - including surfs.
3. During most of the history since 1000 years ago Tibet was under control of the Chinese central government, sometime loosely but never off.
4. Most, I mean these 95% who were not nobles welcomed Chinese army and even worshiped Mao and all succeeding leaders as living budda with their photos hanging next to the Dalai Lama. Ever since 1949 the central government had poured billions RMB into Tibet even at the hardest time. They enjoy free health care, free housing and a lot of benifit other part of China doesn't have yet.
5. The world never had question about Tibet being part of China before 1949.
4. Even the dalai lama himself never denied Tibet being part of China. His claim is to have a "more autonomous region".

Western people know that they have ruined the world with their greedy lifestyle thus dream paradise exists somewhere, so your media show a fake paradise to you: Tibet. You see, it serves two purposes, firstly, let you people who suffers the sin you made with your greedy lifestyle have some kind of relief, secondly, this is a good way to demonize China.

You may say, we are in "free world", how come these things you said were never heard of, you must be lying! The fact is, if you want to do a research on how Tibetan was an independent paradise, you will get fund and publish your articles easily no matter how lossy your research is. However, if you ever try to do a research on how Tibetans think themselfs as Chinese and like to stay in the Chinese family and etc, guess what? You will never get fund, never get publish your articles on major media.

We Chinese do not want to fight, it was your government and the evil force behind it who fooled you and made you believe you are defending "paradise" but the truth is, you are defending evil.

To 1484:

Why all the anger? The only reason I mentioned Tibet is to show that even China as oppressing rules, and that yes, they are ready to use military force to keep them. I didn't say that other countries are not, just that China is doing the same thing as anybody else.

But you completely missed my point. Perhaps you were too busy thinking about what your answer might be instead of trying to understand what I was saying.

In fact, my only point is this: As long as we will live as different people, dividing the earth among ourselves, instead of living as human on the same planet, history will only repeat itself, unless we kill ourselves first.

As Bob Marley said:
"One love, one heart, let's get together and be alright"

One love. One heart.

To #1484: My apology for the anger, which, if I may explain, is towards all these commentors on this blog who cannot stop dreaming to contain China's progress by believing in those fabracted lies made by western main stream media.

As to your pessimistic view of mankind, I think I would say something differently. Honestly speaking, as a Chinese, we I read our history I do not feel too proud about all those holocausts among ourselves. I'm sure you feel similar when you read yours. However, there is a difference. In China, holocausts usually happen when there's not enough food, or people fight for secular power. Chinese never kill just because others are different people, or people believe in different God. The term "devil" does not have a significant role in Chinese philosophy. But look at yours, not just in mediaeval age, but today. Read the book "The Clash of Civilizations and the remaking of World Order" by Samuel P¡¤Huntington?

Knowing this, and I say this with no pride as mankind, we have no choice but to make ourself stronger in order for our civilization - the longest continous - to survive the next Crusade.

I agree with you completely that only when mainkind realize that we are no different, just as Sting said in his song "The Russians":

"We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me and you
Is if the Russians love their children too"

Lastly, as Confucious says: Good people can be harmony yet different.

One love, one heart, but not one God/Idealogy/Civilization.

Communist Chinese government have no right to arrest Chinese Christian pastors and missionary workers into the jails. I want and favor Free China and Democary for Chnese people. I am happy that Russia and East European nations collasped their communist rules in 1989 , 1990 and 1991. I hope China and Cuba will collaspe thier communist rules and restore and settle democary to all people soon.

To 1495:
My grandma was Christanized in the 1980's. I recall she had no problem going to church, she taught us Lord's prayer as I still remember the begining: "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." When she passed away she was buried with service from church. And my grandpa was a communist.

A friend of mine married a guy from catholic family (ie, most of their family members are catholic) and she had to have a catholic wedding service at a church here in Beijing which I took a lot of my foreign friends to on Sundays.

These are just two real life examples about religions in China.

You see, this is how you people become evil. Firstly, you send some missionaries into some country. After a while, some (1 out of 100) may get arrested or some cases killed for like child abuse (don't tell me that doesn't happen). Then you made that country "evil" and send your armies to punish them by the name of God.

There are a lot of things your media don't tell you and made you fool. Religion is as free as anywhere in the world if you ask anyone who stay in China longer than two weeks. And as I know, in some cases, worshippers were arrested because they were warshipping devil. Your media only tell you half of the story.

You were made to believe other's are sinful so you will have no problem to cast your vote to destory another civilization just like what you did hundred years ago. Only this time, it's not by the name of God but "democracy". So what if the Chinese communist isn't so evil as what your media taught you and the people are actually happy about? Will you still send your Crusader to save them?

The force behind your ignorance is evil, who made you hate others and raise war, losing lifes for oil, destory other's home. I'm not a Christan but I know for sure, God won't forgive you for doing this.

Was there ever a time when countries were not envious of each other? Envy often leads to fear, primarily of loss. So it is inevitable that many in the West will look at these pictures and try to draw parallels to other times that Western culture has been challenged. However, this surely misses the point. In China we have a growing nation, defying the current financial and economic crisis, celebrating its history in an awe inspiring manner.
If only our Western governments were proud enough of what we have achieved in the last 60 years to have our own celebrations on this scale instead of the constant doom and gloom of modern day politics.
Well done China, you've got the world's attention, now show us what to do next!

Irony is voting for an American president who proposes/supports communist/socialist tactics, and then turning around and criticizing the communist practices and oppressions of other countries.

"Free Tibet!" and "Down with capitalism and free markets!" out of the same mouth....get out of your Prius, put down the soy latte and open your eyes!

I think it should be a requirement for people to live in other countries before they are allowed to have an opinion about the politics in that area. Personally I've only lived in the US and China (mainland), so I wouldn't consider myself informed enough to fully understand something like Tibet, and I won't pretend like I do.

Mao, who killed some 50-70 million of his own people, is still venerated there. This country is big, well financed and disciplined...no doubt their president keeps his finger tenuously on the switch. God bless the USA!

China’s rise to prominence within the international political and economic domain is not unexpected, but much planned, well supported by hard labor, well coordinated industrial and trade policies as well as through directed administration leveraging excellent people management. Even if China has less hinterland that it’s controparti, the United States, the strong workforce and cheap labor provides China a strategic advantage in her commerce of production and manufacturing.

China is now well integrated in the international economic arena along with her peers, the nations of BRICS, a Pan Afro-Asian-Latam Economic conglomeration, well thought off as a posterior part of conceived sense by W.C. Mitchell of the NBER, way back in the 1930’s, in his book ‘The Business Cycles I &II’. That seems inherent as this is limited in order which was bound to happen post WWII, with a shift of economic balance and power, with one lateral movement of economic equilibrium. Although US still hounds with her $13.5 trillion economy, not more soon will the tide turn in the favor of China(by 2025-2028). We have had a similar situation following Japan’s rise in the late 70’s and 80’s when Japan was truncated as production king of the world, or more just, seeker than precision, followed by federal Republic of Germany.

Strange as it may sound, China did all these being under communist regime, with a political ideology much hated in the western hemisphere. Now, the question remains, of whether one can believe China with her huge military organization behind, and several political controversies lying alongside, i.e., the Tibet and the Taiwan factors! Who knows what would happen, but we would like to expect China to be a much more diplomatic deterrent in matters of conflicts with her neighbors.

It is for sure that China has gone a long way from a poor, laid-back country. Now more than ever, their army is the most populous and the biggest in the world and their weapons had gone sophisticated as well. We can just hope that they will not be the next conqueror of other countries, because even the most modern system of security will not be able to surpass their numbers...the Chinese are all over the world, and in big numbers as well. Good luck!

Quand on voie un pays avoir une si grande puissance de guerre on se demande pourquoi. Surtout que tout cet argent investit en armement alors que le peuple est pauvre en grande majorité.

@1536, why China need a strong arm force? Because she remembers her humiliation past she suffered from western "civilized" countries, that include your native country France.

nice display! but the point is that in a situation of world hunger, climate change and associated food security, i just don't understand the need of such show offs. It would have been better, if a very small amount of money from these would have been spent for people that are hungry.
let them be mightier, still they don't abstain themselves from putting their nose into other country's affairs, which is a pity!

Très impressionnant, grandiose, mais quel froide rigueur, noyée sous un flot de

I can't agree with you more #1454, look back the road we Chinese have been through, our country suffered with war , robbery, destruction, people were killed and raped by foreign invaders since 1840 (although they didn't think so, no matter what excuse they used, that's invasion! ) and our government was forced to sign a series of inequality treaty, so that's why Hong Kong was “Lease” to U.K for a hundred years, that's why Tai Wan was under the rule of Japanese by 5 decades.
All these lessons your ancestors taught us was the truth that without a powerful nation , Chinese can't not avoid being bullying. Now we're getting stronger and stronger and you guys begin to fear? Fear about revenge? Therefore spread slanderous rumours to a growing up country? Yeah, that's what your politicians did in the same way.
Do you know how your ancestor find the way to make themselves peaceful in mind after killing people or robbing something doesn't belongs to them? They begged God to save them, they begged Jesus's redemption. Do you know how ridiculous that is? So every unforgivable criminal just need to stay in the church for a little while and then his guilty was erased? Debt should be paid, what your ancestor did in Africa and Asia in the last 2 hundred years? Your country was nourishing by people's blood, otherwise, how would you thing U.K , U.S.A can be developed so well in such a short period? Without war, despoliation, your nation just can't make it! Can you see how many Chinese historical relic display in Great Britain Museum and Louvre? Do you feel shame when you visit these museum? What a shame on you guys~~~ when the western school teachers teach their children to be an honest ,righteous people, HAHAHA...How irony it is?

These pictures tell: If you treat Chinese as friends, you get friends. If you treat them as enemies, you get a qualified enemy with 1.3 billion population. I completely support 1467's comments and answeres to some anti-China and anti-Chinese comments!! With convincing and undeniable historical and current facts, 1467 gave a great comment. With such a large population, with a huge nation that covers 12 time zones and 56 ethnic groups, Chinese people have made an outstanding achievement in such a short period of time. But they are still humble, modest, friendly, nice to people in other nations. They are not arrogant and mean, and they don't use its military power tand economic power to bully others, like many West nations have done and are still doing in the world.

Funny how 'Tank-Man' isn't mentioned.... ever....

Speak out against the government of China, stand in front of an army of tanks, and try to make your voice heard, you are pretty much dead.

To 1563 the Tank Man fan:
You know, there have been a lot of Chinese figures passing by in history. Many are remembered as heros and many forgotten. But I bet in your good people's mind on the tank man can be remembered. Well, why? Let me answer for you, because people like him can help you overthrow the Chinese government which you are made to believe a threat to your so called "free world".

So the only I learn from you is that you only care about whoever can "fight the evil commies" but never care about the life about Chinese people. So you are actually defending your own "freedom", freedom you ancestors had when then broke into our nation and toolk everything away. Are you friend? I don't think so.

For us Chinese people, we want a good life. I for one do not think the tank man has any constructive role in this process. Well, he may satisfy your dream, so you can keep him your hero forever.
