Long a fixture in Bostonís fine dining scene, renowned local chef Michael Schlow has announced plans to close the Financial District restaurant Radius on June 29.
Schlow, the man behind Via Matta, Tico, Alta Strada, and Barrio Cantina, and will open a different restaurant in another location, but with the same team. This new eatery will have a more casual feel than Radius had. Schlow told the Globe that fine dining has been struggling because it ďhas the connotation of a) itís going to be expensive, and b) youíre going to be there for a really long time.Ē
This isnít the first time Schlow is completely replacing one of his restaurants for another. Earlier this year, he closed Happyís Bar & Kitchen, which served contemporary American fare, and opened Barrio Cantina, which (obviously) serves Mexican cuisine.
