In the ever-changing, turbulent world of online restaurant venting, one thing remains consistent: Over at Chowhound, a 2006 thread lamenting the lack of good restaurants in Concord and Acton simply won't die. Things have changed since 2006, of course. There's now 80 Thoreau, and new spots from Stella's Evan Deluty and Bondir's Jason Bond are on their way. And today there's news via this thread that Acton will get its very own gastropub, helmed by KO Prime's old executive chef, Josh Buehler.
The Red Raven will be at 3 Nagog Park, moving into a space once occupied by local hangout the Rusty Scupper, later known as Scupper Jack's. It's a lovely spot, overlooking Nagog Pond, in a town that sorely lacks inventive dining options. (As an Acton native, I feel I can say this fairly. Although there is now a Bueno Y Sano, which as gotten mixed reviews.)
Buehler worked at Eastern Standard before segueing to KO Prime. His new project has all the buzzwords: It's a gastropub with craft cocktails and farm-to-table cuisine. While this concept isn't anything earth-shattering in Boston, it might be just the jolt Acton needs. And a pedigreed chef certainly doesn't hurt. Stay tuned for opening details, and in the meantime, ogle the soothing view from their deck.
