Boston Restaurant Talk reports the gratifying news that Merrill & Co. will open in the old 28 Degrees space at 1 Appleton St. Former KO Prime'r Jason Cheek will be the executive chef, and jm Curley's talented Kevin Mabry will be the beverage director.

"It's true! We got a bun in the oven. @MerrillandCo is due March 2014! Can't wait to have a little brother. Don't worry, he won't be a D-bag," jm Curley Tweeted yesterday.

However, reports Boston magazine, it will be anchored by "classic, New England-inspired seafood, brick oven pizzas, and an exposed raw bar" with a jm Curley feel and a "biergarten-inspired patio area."

It should open in March.
