New Year's Eve with Ribelle + North: the ultimate food-lover's feast

Brookline's Ribelle snagged four stars from Devra First a few weeks ago; North got a glowing review from her this summer. ("Dishes mess with your expectations in delirious fashion," she enthused.) Perhaps not a coincidence: Chefs Tim Maslow and James Mark worked together at David Chang's momofuku. The duo will unite on New Year's Eve for a multi-course Chinese dinner, served family-style at tables of eight. You're encouraged to make new friends (and if you go the wine pairing route, this seems inevitable). Tickets are $180 per pair — surely not cheap, but a worthy holiday gift for the harried gourmand who keeps meaning to get to Ribelle (or North) but hasn't yet, and they'll donate some of the proceeds to the Greater Boston Food Bank. THE MENU
First Course: north

Hot and pungent soup + lobster, country ham, crab paste, dried scallop, shan tofu

Second Course: north & ribelle

Zhajiangmian + dry aged ham ragu, femented beans, spicy cucumbers, buckwheat noodles
Sizzling Fried Rice + scrambled egg, sesame, soy, oysters, oyster mayo

Third Course: ribelle & north

Shanghai Pan Fried Noodle + pickled turnip, smoked miso, egg yolk, preserved porcini
Skate Wing Tomahawk + ginger scallion butter, burnt cabbages, steamed rice

Fourth Course: north & ribelle

Crispy Sweet Potatoes + fermented black bean mash, Chinese chives, young kale, beer brined roots
Peking Duck + scallion pancakes, cucumber, hoisin, fermented hots

Fifth Course: ribelle

Ginger Cake + black sesame ice cream, blood orange curd, nori
