About the author
Dave D'Onofrio is a sports journalist who focuses on the Red Sox and Patriots, and also writes Boston.com's "Off The Field" blog about what Boston's sportsmen do away from the field of play.
He has written about the Red Sox for a decade, covering the Red Sox occasionally from 2003-10 for the Concord Monitor, including the 2007 World Series, before becoming Red Sox reporter for the New Hampshire Union Leader in 2011.
A Massachusetts native, once his dreams of becoming the next Jody Reed proved unrealistic, he enrolled at Boston University and embarked on a career in sports journalism that has taken him to the World Series, the Daytona 500, the Super Bowl -- and hundreds of free press meals in between.
After receiving six awards from the Associated Press Sports Editors during an eight-year run at the Concord Monitor, he is now a freelance writer. He lives on the North Shore with his wife and daughter, a dog named after Eleanor Roosevelt, and an unquenchable thirst for fountain soda.
