This was almost as entertaining a Survivor Pool as the movie Jack and Jill.

Had the fates of the Patriots, Colts, and Texans gone the other way in Week 1 – a difference of NINE total points – then our 10-person inaugural Boston.com NFL Survivor Pool would have ended as quickly as it began. Literally, only Zuri Berry, who picked the Jets, would have been left standing.

I just re-read the above paragraph 28 times and I still can’t comprehend the odds of that happening.

Alas, a late penalty call against the Bucs was to Berry’s benefit and spelled Chad Finn’s immediate demise. With Finn go Steve Silva and the Obnoxious Boston Fan, both of whom took the Browns to beat the Dolphins, as well as one-week Steelers fan Eric Wilbur.

Congrats to @kevinjlevesque for keeping the readers alive for another week. The rest of the remaining participants are below, along with their Week 2 selections.

Zuri Berry – Raiders over Jaguars
(Has previously used the Jets)
If there were ever an opportunity to pick the Raiders and not feel foolish about it, it’s now. The Jaguars are the bottom of the barrel.

Gary Dzen – Texans over Titans
(Has previously used the Patriots)
The Texans are a top-10 team who proved they could survive a scare Monday night. They’re too balanced and too tough for Tennessee, and they’re at home.

Erik Frenz – Patriots over Jets
(Has previously used the Texans)
Unfortunately for Rex Ryan and the Jets, Lavonte David doesn’t play for every team in the NFL. In fact, the Jets are in for a rude awakening against a Patriots team that will likely be much more disciplined than Greg Schiano’s Buccaneers were last week (safety, two turnovers, 13 penalties).

Adam Kaufman – Raiders over Jaguars
(Has previously used the Colts)
There’s obviously not a lot to love about the Raiders, but the Jags scored two points against the Chiefs last week. Two. I may pick against them every week until they finally cave and sign Tim Tebow.

Matt Pepin – Bengals over Steelers
(Has previously used the Patriots)
Can’t see Cincinnati losing two in a row, but can very easily see the Steelers dropping two in a row after their performance in Week 1.

Guest Reader (@The_JBUG) – Saints over Buccaneers
(Has previously used the Colts)
Please refer to “Tampa Bay loses to the Jets” headline for the reason why.

You can find Week 1 picks here.
