"Anything one does every day is important and imposing and anywhere one lives is interesting and beautiful."- Gertrude Stein

Welcome to Run Along, Boston.com's new blog about running in Boston!

For some reason, folks around here really do like to run. It could be that we have made-for-running routes along the Charles, Jamaica Pond or the Fells. It could be that we host the country's oldest marathon. It could be that the state is home to several athletic shoe and gear manufacturers. Despite seasons that would make one think running is not a year-round sport, in Boston quite the opposite is true. Whether in tank tops to thermals, runners are out there logging miles.

I am a runner, although that was not always the case. Thirteen years, 11 marathons and many miles later, Boston has made something about running special.

Run Along will share what's going on in the Boston running community. I'll blog about races and run clubs, my favorite running routes and what it's like being a runner here. If I'm not blogging about your favorite places to run, feel free to send me your suggestions. You can email me at RunAlongBoston@gmail.com.

Whether you have run 20 Boston Marathons or are thinking about running your first 5K, like to stay active or like to make exercising social, Boston has a place for you to run. This blog will share what I think makes running around Boston great. I hope you will run along with me.
