WILLOW-PALIN-FACEBOOK-HOMOPHOBIC.jpgWillow Palin, Sarah Palin's 16-year-old daughter, has been caught using homophobic slurs to attack a Facebook user who criticized her mom's new reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska." While the show's first episode aired Sunday night, a boy who attended the same school as Palin's kids wrote a status update on his Facebook wall that read: "Sarah Palin's Alaska, is failing so hard right now."

Which caused Bristol Palin to respond: "You're running your mouth just to talk shit..."

A flame war ensued, and Willow jumped in. Some of her comments, which included anti-gay slurs:

"Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I've seen pictures of, your disgusting ... My sister had a kid and is still hot."

"Tre stfu. Your such a f**got."

"And Matt. Your so effin fat. Stfu."

"Jon, your a low life loser."

In the past, the Palins have forcefully argued that people should not use the term "retarded" as an insult. Some might call me naive, but with that in mind, I'm surprised that anyone in the Palin family would use a similarly hateful term like "faggot" to attack someone — especially in light of all the recent campaigns to stop anti-gay bullying. At the very least, I'd expect Willow to apologize for her comments and for her mother to publicly denounce them.

So far, only older sister Bristol has apologized for the flare up, but even she hasn't mentioned the f-word: “Willow and I shouldn’t have reacted to negative comments about our family. We apologize,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

That's a start, but it's not good enough.

UPDATE: I have to agree with commenter connmom: "It seems to me that if Mrs. Palin is truly offended by epithets, she ought to start by educating her own family not to use them."

(You can view more of the Facebook flare up after the jump.)
