Scott Brown's dumb frat-boy quip
State Senator Scott Brown might be able to get away with a frat-boy quip about a female rival.

But U.S. Senator Scott Brown should know better.
Brown sounded like an ungracious jerk when a radio DJ asked him to respond to Warren’s earlier crack, that unlike Brown, she didn’t take her clothes off to pay for school.
“Thank God” responded Brown, who posed for a now-famous centerfold spread in Cosmopolitan magazine decades ago to pay for college. Brown went on to showcase the very unattractive class-obsessed chip on his shoulder, explaining that he posed nude because, “Bottom line, you know, I didn’t go to Harvard, you know, I went to the school of hard knocks.”
Warren didn’t go to Harvard either. She went to the University of Houston and Rutgers School of Law, and is now a Harvard Law School professor.
Speaking of the bottom line, Brown stooped low for a chuckle, in a way that won’t win him any female fans. And he picked a particularly bad time to do it. Tonight at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, Democratic fundraiser extraordinaire, Barbara Lee, is hosting a campaign kickoff event. It’s aimed at pulling together all the powerful Democratic women who long to elect the first female senator from Massachusetts.
Guys will be guys. But the guy who is the junior senator from Massachusetts just did something really dumb. Smart guys make cracks like that behind closed doors, not during live radio interviews.
