JUST WHO does Boston Teachers Union president Richard Stutman think he’s kidding? Responding to legislation Boston Mayor Tom Menino filed Tuesday to create in-district charter schools, the union boss had this to say: “The current cooperative structure between teachers and management has shown it can accomplish much of what Menino is proposing.’’ Actually, it was obstruction by Stutman and the BTU on pilot schools, which were designed to be the district’s answer to charter schools, that helped make a charter supporter of Menino. Perhaps BTU members will buy Stutman’s reality-denying spin, but he shouldn’t expect anyone else to fall for it.
