Despite the challenges facing Evergreen Energy, the solar-panel company that received tens of millions of aid from the Patrick Administration, the governor was justified in seeking to seed the state's renewable-energy industry. This is not a case of outbidding another state for a factory; this is an attempt to draw on Boston's assets -- including its research universities and educated work force -- to make the state a leader in a fast-growing industry.
