Citizens of Red Sox Nation should be counting their lucky stars as they contemplate the plight of the Los Angeles Dodgers. After all, the flamboyantly divorcing leaders of the Los Angeles franchise, Frank and Jamie McCourt, are Bostonians who once tried to buy the Sox. Once they got ahold of the Dodgers, they took on a slew of former Sox players, including slugger Manny Ramírez after he sulked his way out of the Red Sox’s two-year club option on his services. But recently team owner Frank sent spouse Jamie a letter out of some 1940s screwball comedy to inform her that her positions as chief executive and vice chairwoman of the Dodgers “are hereby terminated.’’ Which came out in the gossip columns as his vengeance for her alleged affair with her driver. Jamie is now fighting for reinstatement. Sox fans ought to thank the hardball gods that, whatever their interpersonal problems back in 2005, at least Larry Lucchino and Theo Epstein were unencumbered by the bonds of matrimony.![]()
