Iran: using bin Ladens as human shields

Since 9/11, a wife and several children and grandchildren of Osama bin Laden have been held in a compound in Iran. Their existence there as virtual hostages likely explains the failure of Al Qaeda, a Sunni group, to plan attacks in Iran, even though it is majority-Shiite. Now a 17-year-old daughter of bin Laden has sought asylum in the Saudi embassy in Tehran. The incident is a reminder that the United States and Tehran, at odds on other issues, could have common interests with regard to Al Qaeda. (Full article: 291 words)
