Talk about an embarrassment of riches for Boston sports fans. The Bruins have been locked in Stanley Cup combat with the bruisers from Vancouver, and the Red Sox spent much of the week waging diamond war with the despised Yankees. For hoop purists, there’s the added temptation of the NBA finals matching the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami franchise that hired LeBron James. With so much happening on the high-def screen in the man cave, there’s not much time for anything else.

Don’t get used to it. All these amazing feats — pucks hitting the back of the net in rapid succession, the walk-off home run in the ninth inning, the buzzer-beating jump shot that brings a championship to one city or another — may start to seem as commonplace as the TV commercials that frame them. But every series comes to an end soon enough.

Still, gluttons can take comfort: The Belmont Stakes will be run tomorrow and Tom Brady has already begun tossing a football to teammates.
