The Red Sox hit a home run nine years ago when the team got the use of two Boston streets for a paltry average payment of $186,000 a year. The 11-year deal with the Boston Redevelopment Authority got little attention at the time, but since then it has allowed the Sox to increase their revenue by an estimated $45 million. Whatever the merits of the arrangement back then, the authority should negotiate a cut of the benefits in future years.
