IN REPLY to Barbara Ehrenfels's March 9 letter ("Proposition 2 1/2 1/2 overrides: a battle for hearts and wallets"): Taking a potshot at seniors and calling them selfish is about as low as one can go. Many seniors have worked long and hard for a decent retirement, and don't live "plush retirement" lives, as Ehrenfels claims.
The problem with these "angry soccer moms," as she proudly calls herself, is that they try to fill their days by jumping in their gas-guzzling SUVs with a cellphone stuck to their ears, and call each other: So, why not get together and raise people's property taxes? We'll make nice little signs that we can stick on people's lawns.
Don't forget this: One day you will have your turn being a senior citizen on a fixed income, and you will be watching where your tax dollars are going.
