Can't seem to catch a tax break

RE "CITY offers bank $4m tax break to relocate: From downtown, a move to waterfront" (Page A1, April 30): Where's my tax break for staying in the city? As a lifelong resident of Hyde Park, I'm tired of property taxes increasing while city services decrease and the rich get richer on the ever-stretching South Boston waterfront.

It's unfortunate that the Beal Cos. has been unable fill the old Fargo Building, but as with the current mortgage crisis, is it the government's responsibility to bail Beal out of a bad investment? Let the market dictate the pace of real estate development in this area, or provide the tax incentive to all.

Given the right deal, I could be persuaded to sell my home and move to a condo on Fan Pier in order to help out this "blighted" area.
