MICHAL REGUNBERG, in her May 14 op-ed "Sexism - stoked by the media," says that the negative response to Hillary Clinton's campaign is due to sexism fueled, in part, by the press. As a 68-year-old retired female, I have certainly encountered sexism. In addition, I would love to see a woman as president of this country. However, I would be foolish to support a woman just because she is a woman. Clinton is extremely flawed, and I am appalled by her ruthlessness and sense of entitlement. As a Democrat, I was relieved to see the end of the Clintons in the White House, and any thought of their return is depressing.
The media are relentless in their criticisms and ridicule of all the candidates, and, if anything, they bent over backward to treat Clinton as a front-runner.
There would be nothing worse than nominating a woman for the presidency who fails to get elected, especially at this time when electing a Democratic president seems probable. I know that many women are angry and frustrated and feel that this is their chance, but I see Clinton's candidacy, even if she does not get the nomination, as a setback for the election of a woman as president of the United States.
